Looks really nice!

That coil it comes with, the NS, is not a Ni coil so it won't work in Ni TC mode. It's probably Kanthal. Here are the specs on it.
"Compatible With Two Coil Systems
  • NS Triple 0.25 ohm Coil
    • Vertical Orientation
    • 40 to 120W
    • Non Threaded Coil System
  • Reux Mini Triple 0.2 ohm Coil
    • Vertical Orientation
    • 40 to 80W"
Not sure why they call it NS, but with the different coil configurations being churned out these days I can't figure out the nomenclature anyway.
Well that explains it! Kinda, lol. I thought it was some variant of nickel (which I thought was weird because nickel isn't a widely popular vaping material anymore..) but whatever it is, it just doesn't produce any flavor. It's completely blah. :( I love the tank design, so I am hoping they will come up with a ceramic head for it.

I got my Predator 2 days ago as well.

So far I really like it but I have been burning through batteries quick. I am running it hot though, about 95 watts with 105 watt preheat with a Melo 300. In 2 days I am on my 4th pair of batteries.

The fit and finish is killer, loving the fire bar with no play at all and the anodized look of the paint is dead sexy.

If they were aiming to kill the Alien they have done it with this mod. Much better fit and finish and a TC that works much better. The only thing I like better on the Alien is the hard setting which applies a preheat based on your current watts. With the Predator you have to adjust the preheat manually so when you change watts you also have to hold the down and power to enter into the sub menu to adjust preheat. I was thinking this might be trouble some if I decide to change to one of my single coil tanks I run in the 40 watt range. If I forget to change the preheat I am going to cough up a lung when it hits it at 105 watts for 1 second.

All in all though I hope this is the direction Wismec is going for all there future mods. A definite step up from there previous offerings.

Not bad overhang with a 30mm tank although the tank looks about as big as the mod...haha:

LOL! I'm still doing this...
alien vs predator2.PNG

...but I have no intention of covering up the amazing finish on the Predator. It really is gorgeous!! I'm still trying to figure out if the sides are painted metal or if they are some kind of really hard plastic. No scratches whatsoever on any part of my mod, but I will feel better if I know for sure the black isn't paint, lol. I will probably get a clear skin for it anyway, just to make sure it stays smexy. :D

I forgot to post the size comparison pic for all the compact dual 18650 mods I have:

The most comfortable to hold is that Minikin V2, it is also the shortest of all of the mods. The TC on the Minikin is below average though, strictly a power mod for me. The TC on the Predator is much better IMO.

What a lovely family you have! :) My main 2-battery setups are the Predator, the Alien, and the Fuchai 213. I also have the RX200 and a single-battery Arctic Dolphin Arthur in rotation, so between those 2, that's another 4 batteries, lol.

The thing I'm curious about though, is temp control. My normal go to build is a dual coil stainless steel clapton. I average around 0.25 and vape it around 450 degrees and 85 watts. On the Predator, I had to turn it down to 300 degrees to get the same vape and this is just with the default TCR setting of 120. Normally I've been adjusting it to 125 but if anything, I'd need to lower it here.
I've been having the same thing happen with an ss316l alien single coil and I'm using TCR of 108 (provided by djlsb vapes). I like to vape at no higher than 420 and I think on the predator with that coil 320 is in the ballpark.
But in all fairness my other mod (innokin kroma) runs it way too hot, also.
I'm using some premade coils from Fasttech...maybe they aren't what they say on the label? IDK
When it's time to change my coil, I might just go back to a simple ss316l single coil.
I did buy an infared laser to check it, but I already know it's way too hot.

Mine just came in today. I got the stainless and black one and noticed that the stainless is already getting a bit marked up from just taking my tank on and off a few times but not enough to complain about.

Do you guys think that this is normal or do you guy think it's reading on the hotter side of tc?

A tcr of 120 is way too high. 092 is the standard for ss316l.

Ok so i'm using a different built in it and i locked the resistance. it's a .24ohm triple core fused clapton dual coil build. 3.5mmID and 9 wraps. and temp control is working really well at 450. higher resistance builds seem to work much better in TC mode then my lower resistance (.16ohm) one did

Just got my Predator 228 a few days ago from Heaven Gifts and so far I'm really liking this mod. I got the silver and black version and it looks nice, the fit and finish is really nice. It feels great in the hand and I love the size, very compact for a dual battery mod. The 510 does look improved over my other Wismec mods. I haven't had any issues attaching any of my attys to it.

I've been using it in power and SS mode and it's working great. In TC, I was using a simple dual coil 316L at 0.35 and 420 degrees and it worked great. I do have one con with it though, the battery door catch. Without batteries installed, I couldn't open the battery door, the button works just fine, but the latch is slightly catching. The door opens just fine with batteries installed, I think I just need to run a little sandpaper over the catch lip, no biggie. Overall, I really like this mod, great size and feel for a dual battery mod.

aand now it's not lol. it's pretty dam inconsistent at this point. it works well when it works, but it doesn't always work. and it kicked me out of TC once too

I just went ahead and put my rta with a SS430 build in it and setup the TCR at .00138. For me it has vaped fine with both SS316L and SS430. The tank with the SS316L came off my G Class in TC and was very close to the same vape.

The only thing I can think of is China QC at work. Like how a decent amount had horrible TC and some had OK TC with the Alien. I was able to improve the TC on it when they introduced a new firmware but the Predator still trounces it.

We are both pretty on point with most mods that we both have so the differences here tell me something is a miss.

I'll try again without locking the resistance but when I didn't lock it it was hitting too hard. 380 would burn my cotton. After locking it it got much better but sometimes I need 400 for a decent vape and 5 mins later 400 is burning. I'm using 2 attys and 2 builds between the and the kaos and switching them and the kaos is doing better but both below the battlestar. Kaos is hitting nice at 440 now on both attys. I can't pin point why it's so inconsistent so it could be bad QC.

I had my Predator drop out of TC today for the first time but it was my fault. Had a Mage with SS430 build in it ohming out at 0.33 in TCR mode at .00138. I had the ohms locked and forgot to unlock it before putting on my Tornado 150 sub ohm tank with a SS316L 0.30 ohm prebuilt coil. Tired to take my first hit and got nothing, dropped out of TC and into power mode at 20 watts. Unscrewed the tank, unlocked the ohms, screwed tank back on, put it back into SS 316 TC mode then locked the ohms again. Was able to vape dry the 4th tank I have had on here in TC, the first being my Aromamizer Plus with SS316 coils, EXO RTA with SS316, Mage with SS430 in TCR mode at .00138 and the Tornado 150 I just talked about. All in my normal temp range of between 420 and 450 and all consistent until it throttled back so I can vape the cotton dry without any dry hits.

I did have it hitting the temp real quick when I first put on my Tornado 150 but then remembered I had the preheat set to 95 watts for 0.50 seconds. Dropped it down to 65 watts preheat and lowered my normal watts to 55, worked great there.

@Anthony_Vapes I wish we loved close by so we could meet up and we could compare our Predators. Your experience is like my experience with the Alien but I know I am in the minority with the problems I had with it. I am sure I got a bum Alien and I think you may have gotten a bum Predator so that is why are experiences are so far apart.

I would test your Predator some more but might want to look into getting a replacement. Maybe try reloading the firmware into the Predator?

I looked at the update but saw that I already had that version installed. If they came out with a new update I would probably skip it anyway, I have no complaints on how it is working right now.

nope. no good. reloaded firmware my att was sitting not on a mod for 30 mins to be room temp. put it on,reset and locked resistance (.25 which is correct for my build) set it to 420. preheat is off. wattage at 120 temp at 420 way too hot. was close to burning the cotton and never cut off so i stopped firing. my build is a dual coil triple core fused clapton SS317l wire from advanced vape supply. 3.5mm ID 9 wraps each. dropped it down to 400. still too hot but cuts off at least right before getting to the point i would stop firing.

That's odd and not even close to my experience with the Predator in TC. The experience you are having though reminds me of my experience with the Alien before the new update a couple of weeks ago. Before that update the Alien was either HOT or anemic with no in between. I know others reported the same thing while some did not have that problem.

Knowing we both have most of the same mods and are pretty similar in our thoughts about them this is the only one that is a complete opposite. I would definitely try and get a replacement because something is wrong with it.
