I doubt it. I have the same mod and I charge it off my desktop (Win10) all the time but just ignore what my computer thinks it is. I plug it in watch the mod when it's charged I just unplug it.
Correct I just treat it like a wall charger and have had no problems. Unless you run the Wismec update software I don't think there is any chance of a computer messing with the chip.

Welcome and glad you joined.
The Mod is sort of like a lamp and you just pulled the electrical plug (not a good idea but should be ok) rather than flipped the switch to disconnect. Your computer/OS may have an error cache which may tend to fill up. When removing a device, it's always a good idea to eject/disconnect using the computer software.
