I'm here! I've not tried any of the things you're talking about. But, T - you mentioned in one of the threads that you don't like liver. I absolutely love good calf's liver and onions, with mashed potatoes. Yum. :) Hubby is going grocery shopping tomorrow (Whole Foods). I think I'll tell him to buy some calf's liver.

You know, having worked over much of the world, I've eaten some bizarre things and found most of them to be palatable at least. But I can't even put liver near my mouth or I'm going to be seriously sick!!!

There are some exceptions, I've eaten pate' made by the French (goose liver and others) that I was able to eat, but I think they had it so spiced that I couldn't taste the actual liver.

But not straight liver. No, no, no, no. Huh-uh. Nope.

Now see, I love liver! But, only if my mom cooks it.

Ur... um... I thought you were going to be away this weekend? Shameful how Mrs T keeps hacking my puter isn't it.

I hate liver in all forms. YUCK, YUCK, YUCK.

Then again, half the stuff I've offered to send you for Thanksgiving I wouldn't allow on my table.:sneaky:

Okay, first of all, "fauz" isn't a word and neither is "graus." Sheesch!!!

Your talking about foie gras and yes, I've eaten it and its delicious. The truffles, wine and spices they make it with results in a taste as hard to describe as Wyatt Earp. There is also a chicken liver faux gras (maybe that's what you're talking about) that is almost as good and your more likely to find it here in the States.

Please don't tell the girls what the foie gras is made from or we'll have a fight going on here that I really don't want to get into. Seriously. That wouldn't be funny.

Another French specialty that I dearly love is escargot stuffed with spinach. Delicious.

And along those lines there is an escargot and spinach traume that is made with pine nuts, feta cheese and a dab of pernod ... you'd love it. Oohhh, don't get me started on French foods.

Amy, you very eloquently stated what I was unable to put together. Good food is a event. Its more than just a meal. To me its sad that here in our Country we've forgotten that and accept what the big companies give us as food (and I'm actually not talking about liver here).

I guess that's why, when I find a company like FSUSA who is intent on selling us quality, not just a flavored product, I jump to get on their band wagon.

When I make home made Pizza totally from scratch now that is an event. :) PS- Or when my wife makes Lasagna and she even makes her own noodles.

We already knew you were a gentleman with exquisite tastes, a culinary master and world-class vintner. And that's just three of the many reasons you are so appreciated on this Forum.

the only thing i make in my kitchen is a mess. seriously, the husband has to do the cooking or else we would surely be dead a long time ago.

his mother called my mother the day we got engaged and the first thing out of her mouth was "i never thought my son would marry someone who cant cook!" my mom was totally offended like she had been smacked by my mother in law for bad parenting of a daughter.

what can i say? i cant get jello to gel, and i can burn salad.

(as a brief aside, i was vaping some fsusa gingerbread this morning, and husband came out and ACCUSED me of taking cooking lessons because he thought i was making waffles!)
