Your Thanksgiving plans?

Just thought I'd ask what your plans are for Turkey day? It's one of my favorite holidays (solely because of good food).

My dad and I are cooking up a whole bunch of stuff this year. We bought a Weber Smoker, and we're gonna be smoking a turkey! We're also gonna make one in the oven as a backup, in case we mortally ruin this smoked turkey. Additionally, we're roasting up a ham, making a mess of pearl onions in cream sauce, creamed spinach, mashed potatoes with cheese, bacon, chives, both cranberry sauce and cranberry jam, sweet potatoes/yams with marshmallows, cornbread, mac n cheese (two types, one w/ breading and one without), and a few other things. Quite the menu as you can see. Also, our guests are bringing some stuff too, including one woman who's bringing some of her award-winning apple pies.

An old friend of mine is coming to stay with us starting tomorrow through the weekend, so that'll be fun. And I just stocked up on the booze. Got a big ol' bottle of Grey Goose (gotta have the goose), a 12-pack of Sierra Nevada, several six-packs of random beer (Stella Artois, Sam Adams, Rolling Rock.. ez stuff to drink), as well as some higher-end beer (Dogfish Head and some Arrogant ....... Ale by Stone).

So yeah, quite a bit going on indeed! What're your plans?

I was going to start a thread like this, but I'll just piggyback on yours.

Thanksgiving is one of my favorite holidays as I get to go all out and show off cooking. I'm just starting to work out my menu, so will update when I get it figured out. The plan is rather simple: cook lots of good food with ingredients that most of my family has only seen on cooking shows, and just hang out with the close family here at the house. No booze this year, rockin the sobriety wagon these days.
I DO know that I am going to try my hand at making an actual custard. I've vaped alot of custards, but have never had a real one. Might do a trial run on one tomorrow. Nothing is worse than trying a new dish for thanksgiving and having it fail. Menu to come soon!

I have been taking up cooking lately ( after running into several episodes of Masterchef ) and I plan to make something for the family. I am sure that my mom wont let me get close to anything important, but I like to think that I will be able to help with something other than clearing the plates from food

I will spend it at San Quentin with 5000 of my closest friends. the yard crew will have a great pot luck though.
