Hello all, my name is Mary and I'm a smoker who is vaping. I hope to become a vaper who smokes occasionally and with much help luck and heart, will eventually be simply a vaper. Or is it vaperer? Much to learn here in this great forum and would like to offer thank yous even before I get started. I'm fully aware of how much help I will need before it's all said and done. so, THANK YOU!

I see there are a ton of great posts in this forum which means finding an answer to a question will be difficult at first. SO...
A question; The liquid I'm using makes me cough, I have to draw the vape and let it go without inhaling twice before inhaling without coughing. All of the liquids make me cough now. Even my favorite, a new bottle of vape-a-licious 6mg VG 70%/30% twig n berries in an eGo-c clearomizer. Seem to be wasting a lot of it drawing and not inhaling. Any suggestions or reason this might be happening? Could anyone explain the difference in the way VG 'feels' when inhaled compared to PG. I don't like the heat or smokiness in my throat, I like a clean fruity taste, it doesn't matter how much vape on the exhale as I would give up seeing the 'smoke' so that I don't cough.

Thanks again and Happy Vaping Vaper's or Vaperer's! :)

A higher vg % might be the answer your looking for, but even so it seems like something else. A friend of mine who is in the same boat as you, breaking through the vapor barrier as she calls it, dose not have as much problems with coughing. My question is, is it just when you first pick it up and start vaping that it irritates your throat? Dose that irritation go away once you get vaping? If it dose go away then this is normal. If it makes you cough the whole way through then that is a problem. In that case I would move away from the normal and try something diffrent. New cartomizer or juice or resistance on your carto.
Just as a recomendation, if you want to vape full time you need a higher nic concentration. Anywhere between 12 mg and 24mg is the most common start point. I started vaping at 16mg, am now at 4mg and haven't touched a cigarette since.... Before I even joined this forum.
Good luck

As posted you could possibly have a sensitivity to PG. Are you shaking your juices before filling your clearo?
PG enhances throat hit, lung hit and flavor
VG= vapor
Nic= throat hit, lung hit and our need for nicotine
It does sound as if 6 mg is quite low for a start. Also vaping dehydrates. I drink 1 1/2 litres water per day. Coffee and soft drinks add to the dehydration.
I don't like the heat or smokiness in my throat,
LR/ low resistance carto, clearos, etc will give a warmer vape.

Good advice, thanks. I do vape an 18mg or 12mg when needing a cig. badly. I do think it might be the dry hit Garebear mentioned. Mainly because I did have a good experience with vaping for two weeks before the cough started. Any suggestions on a type of clearo I should get for replacements of those that came with the eGo-c starter kit? I'm getting a lot of leaking with the clearos that came with the eGo-c starter kit and one has already completely broken in half. Still need to familiarized myself with the lingo, seems a whole new kind of language, so if you have advice please, speak to me as if I were a two year old ; ) Loving this forum.

I really don't have any faith in eGo except for their PVs and even with their PVs not that impressed. Vision has a good line of clearos. I've tutored people in the use of clearos and have just received one so I'm not really up to snuff on them.

FLüXomizer™ 510 Clearomizer : GotVapes.com, E-cigarette Supplies - Atomizers Cartomizers Mods Juice and more
This is the one I bought but I bought it when it was on sale...apparently getting rave reviews but haven't tried it yet.

Not too sure on the lingo for the Ego-c parts even though i started out with one but i believe they're called cartridges. You fill it up with about 1 ml of juice and put the plastic cap on, right? If that's what you have then I recommend a silicon version of those caps if you choose to stick with cartridges anyways. Another good route is to just buy cartomizers. They're easy to use and they rid of that small atomizer/cartridge setup. This way is much cheaper in my opinion as you can buy "carto's" in bulk for decent prices. Gimme a shout if you need anymore help.

You're welcome. I suggest you wait for a sale. I just recently bought $400 worth of stuff at HC and the savings were incredible. I would not buy their juice though. They are also ECF listed which makes them reputable IMO.
Lots of vendors occasionally have sales to:
1/ get rid of excess inventory.
2/ introduce new product
3/ raise awareness of the company.
4/ rev targets attained so anything else is gravy.
I know this past year vendors have all exceeded their wildest expectations in regards to revenue and sales.
Cheers.

thanks for the links Vapoor eyes er. hanging out at the Health Cabin for a while.

Mary, I had you start out with "easy". eGo battery and eGo Vision = easy. Lots of folks get so frustrated with atomisers and cartomisers that they give up quickly. I didn't want you to give up out of frustration. Now...Joye makes a decent battery(eGo), they also make a decent atomiser and clearo....are there better things? Yes...and no. I own mods and still love a variable voltage ego and vision combination for the EASE OF USE. I've been doing this since Nov. '09...been through a ton of stuff...still have love for the basics. That said...

What resistance clearo did you order with your kit? The 2.1 - 2.4 or the higher? You may need the higher so that your vapor is cooler. Also, the wicks are at the top, to avoid dry hits, tilt your gear so those wicks are wet before you take your drag. High VG actually makes me cough or even super strong flavors, high PG only gives me a harsh throat hit if I have a high nic mg. 30% VG and mild flavor is my sweet spot....you need to find yours. Remember what I said....it can all be tweaked to fit your needs and wants.

Click that banner in my signature and join my group. There's a "Newbie" thread there that will tell you how. Post there...we've got you. ;) You'll find lots of great people all over ECF, like the fantastic folks posting in your thread here. I think you'll like it here. Welcome to ECF!

I've only read the first line of your last post here in Wonderful World of Vaping and had to stop to tell you to write a book! Really, you should write a journal/indices/informative structure not only containing great info but your take on the whole affair. Would sell out! Vaping is THE most talked about up and coming commodity since the advent of cigarettes. I consider myself the median when it comes to what's hot or tending. I always call it whatever IT is. You are IT and your ideas and experiences are IT. Do IT! Start with where you are now then go backward or perhaps begin at the beginning with smoking, why and how you quit. ok, going back to read your post. LOVE!!!!

I didnt get a choice of clearo, just came with it. I went back to check and the starter kit that i ordered is now discontinued due to better clearos and a new take on the 1000. The new set up does give a choice in resistance. I don't know what resistance to choose now though, the clearos we got are already falling apart. Higher resistance, got it. I have a buttload of the twig and berries 6mg 70-30 VG I'm going to send to you. I realize now that the lemon I ordered with the starter kit didnt make me cough because it was a high PG mix. The last order I made for liquid was all high VG. DARNIT! hence a gift to you in the mail. Ordering liquid again today with high VG low PG NO wait high PG low VG, AARRG see, I am a confused girl. I really liked the Dekang lemon probably because it was high PG, but their stuff ends up being very expensive after a huge shipping charge. Where could I order liquid with higher PG for less $?

I feel the loving hands of like minds. Thank you babe for bringing me in out of the smoke.

Most vendors have a drop down menu where you can choose your pg/vg ratio. :) The issue COULD be the strong flavor. I sent you that first sample because although it tastes very good, the flavoring is too dang strong for me (makes me cough too). They have one there, Gooey Butter Cake, I could freakin' drink it it's so  , omg, but same story, flavoring is too much for me to inhale. We'll find your sweet spot honey. No worries. :)
