I just bought my brother a Riva 510. Has anyone else had trouble with choking on the vape with this PV? He's explains it like this: "What's happening is a lot like when you first start smoking. When I inhale my lungs just freeze up and then send me into a coughing fit. I've read tons of forums and tried every technique I can think of. Straight draw, draw into mouth before inhale, bit inhale, little inhale. I dunno what's going on." He is coming off of smoking cigarillos and I thought halo's freedom juice would be a good change over drop. I've been using an eGo T and have had zero problems with coughing or choking. Any input?

When I first bought my RIva switching from a dse801 I coughed a lot. The riva vapor is a lot warmer and you get a lot more than the 801. So I shortened up my draws to accumulate it and let it sit in my mouth a bit longer. If It stays an issue he may want to try an 801 or some other lower volt Pv.

The Ego and the Riva is the same thing. The Riva is just a bigger battery that last longer between charges. What is he using, a atty/cart or cartomizers? If they are not kept wet, and get dry they will taste bad and may choke you up.
I'm not convinced it's your hardware. Have you recently changed your PG/VG mix in your juice orders? I got an order with high VG and it made me cough. I'm used to high PG, low VG mix. I learned here on ECF That VG causes cartos to breakdown faster. I drip and use cartos and found more coughing with the cartos and they went funky faster with the new juice. Whatever the cause, hope you find a solution quickly.
There has been no change in juice. It's his first PV, just started vapping. I set him up with pg sampler pack, 15mg. Everything in his kit in new, like 2 days new. No chance of build up being the culprit. He's using drops on an atomizer. I also can't imagine that it's allergies since I let him use my pv with the same juice to see if he'd like it. *Anniethemick = baffled!* He's yet to have a hit off the Riva that didn't make him choke...so strange on a brand new kit! (yes, he blew out the primer first)
I'm not familiar with the ego-T but if the atomizer will fit on his Riva you might want to try swapping atomizers and see if that makes a difference. Not all atomizers are the same.
You say he's coming off smoking cigarillos? Did he inhale them? Perhaps he is just not used inhaling something into his lungs.
Thats true, I never inhaled when I smoked cigars. But when I started the E-cig's I did inhale and thats what I like. I started with 510 atty and cart. and the only time I choked was if the atty/coil was dry, but It was not bad, it just tasted bad. I still thing he should try a 510 cartomizer and see the difference. Why not try one he has nothing to loose.
