got some of the new gold springs in and decided to tackle #18 burl first.
Before tests:
coil = 1.23 ohms, Sony VTC5 battery
4.19 just the battery
4.10 Battery under load
3.63 measured at coil posts
that means a battery induced voltage drop of .09 volts and mod created drop of .47 volts for a total drop of .56 volts.
Replaced the spring with the gold one:
3.77 measured at coil posts
So this lowered the voltage drop by .14 volts for a new total drop of .42 volts
Next I decided to put a drop of solder across both pins on the on/off switch bypassing it. (off doesn't work now. always on)
3.83 measured at the coil posts.
This lowered the voltage drop a further .06 volts for a new total drop of .36 volts.
The combination of the spring and drop of solder gained me .2 volts of additional power to my coils or now a battery at 3.7 volts of charge hits like it used to at 3.9 volts.
I've only ever used the on/off switch when putting them security at the airport so I'll just pull the battery from now on.
