It's called a CHANGE in social attitudes by defining "acceptable" and "unacceptable" language, also known as "social engineering". Consequently it's one of conditions for transition to Communism, as described in well known The Communist Manifesto.

From CHANGE you can believe in to CHANGE in what you believe.

As an able-bodied, poor American teenager, I'm deaf to anyone who doesn't agree with the people who write the textbooks. Anyone who uses the words they indicated should have everything taken away so that they are homeless.

:p:p

Does that make you.. dare I say it.. a minority? LOL

There's usually a profitability reason for things like this. I'd point out that none of the suggested replacements are smaller than what they are replacing. More words, more ink, more paper, bigger book, more income.

Actually your close but the scenario is bigger than that. All existing books for schools would need to be reprinted and RESOLD to fix the unapproved words. 8-o

Jennee26 - When I went to high school we did everything on the computer & because of that I graduated in less than 3 years and spent half of that just goofing off.

Though the American thing reminds me of something that happened to me the other day you guys might find amusing.. I know I did.

One of our tech support departments is outsourced (big news there ) but what I didn't know was that it has 2 different call centers it sends people to depending on call volume and time of day. 1 is in india (or some place like that) and the other is in Canada. Well I didn't know about the Canada center, every time I had called since they started outsourcing I got some guy that barely spoke English.

When I called and got the Canada office for the first time, one of the first things I said was "You have no idea how nice it is to speak to an American at tech support for a change" and the guy says "I'm not American, I'm Canadian" and of course I have to pop off with a sarcastic comment.. "umm.. did they move Canada out on it's own without telling me?"

 Good Cover. And Yeah, we did a lot of stuff on the computer when I was in High School too, but I meant just stay home and go to school online, like you can with colleges these days.

That would be a disaster. Kids need school to develop social skills. Could you imagine if everyone in the world was home-schooled? *shiver*
