Working on a supplier database of sorts.

I just wanted to share with you guys a little something I am working on.

It is a listing of suppliers/vendors categorized into those that sell e-cigarettes and those that sell liquid. It is not done yet as I have many more vendors to add. I am sure most of us here know who the suppliers are so this is aimed at those new to vaping or those just looking to try new suppliers. Not everyone that vapes is on ECF which has a pretty good list. Also what vendor doesn't like free advertising.

It has a page for each supplier with a comments and they can be voted for to move suppliers around the list or to the top of the list. The suppliers page includes a screenshot of thier site with information about them. I may go through them all and organize them by location also once I get all of them I can find added. This is completely free to any vendor that wants to be added.

I can't post images yet or I would post screenshots.

It is called visiolist. Which I have modified quite a bit to use for this. As I want the information to legitimate and reputable vendors. It is actually joinable by vendors also which I may enable that back in if enough interest. For now I am going to find and add all the ones I can manually and add them in myself. Long way to go as far as adding vendors though.

Screenshots added.

Yes it will be a lot of work but in the end I think it will be worth it and useful for people to browse through and check out the suppliers sites. Also useful to those that may find the site through searching that are not on ECF. It will be an on going task as far as adding vendors goes because there are a lot of them and some are obscure. I am starting with the ones found here and then scouring the web for them.

I also have an email address on site for suppliers to request to be added. I think it would be great to have them all in one place and be able to see what the suppliers site looks like with their info on the page.

Categories can be broken down as far as that goes. What would you suggest as far as categories?

I can do like
Full Service
Hardware
Mods
Liquid

I honestly haven't gotten into creating and organizing categories yet as I wasn't sure if I wanted to do it by location or services. I do definitely want to organize it into categories it is just a matter of deciding on how far to break it down.

Thank you for the feedback.

Have to think about that one. Because when you hit a place like Mt. Baker - which a lot of people like for inexpensive liquids - they also sell a lot of hardware, in addition to mechs. Then you have places like Virgin Vapor and The Vapor Room - known for their liquids - that also sell anything from APV's to kits to Kanger stuff.

Can become quite complicated.

There are manufacturers and there are distributors.
Your list will likely get very long with distributors.
Most suppliers will supply everything but likely bias one way or the other.

Yes I agree totally and really it wouldn't be benificial for me to class them as I have seen suppliers go from carying ejuice to carrying everything. For now I think I will just break it down to location and hope to get that right lol.

Maybe categorizing it isnt the way to go. As some vendors bring on new products or additions all the time maybe I should just keep everyone in one category as it will be browesable very easily anyway and Just categorize by location as far as country.

Hmmm... Maybe tick boxes for very broad & basic categories? Something like:

House-made liquids (Places selling their own creations)
Liquids (Places just reselling other brands & imports)
DIY supplies
Basic e-cigs
APV's (anything VV/VW)
Mechanicals
Accessories & parts (the catch all category if they sell anything else vape related.)

Location data by country is good. Maybe a tick box for "has b&m store location" too. I can't see making yourself nutz though, trying to include all address data - that's what their web sites are for.

I may attempt that in the future as that would require a bit of coding and a lot of research. Huge amount of work for a free resource. Right now I have broken down to just location. With tons more vendors to add.

If it is intended to be used to help price shopping/comparing, then you'd want to look at distributors/shops/stores that sell multiple brands.

If it is intended to be used to comparing the types of device options available then manufacturers would make a shorter list.

Manufacturers:
Innokin
Provari
Smoktech/Smok
IBTanked
Boge
Ikenvape
Sigelei
Evolv
Atomazani?
SvoeMaesto
Kanger
Aspire

Perhaps the "Cloners" need special mention:
Hcigar
Ehpro
Tobeco

I love this idea. I will definitely implicate this in the future. I have to do some recoding to support multiple categories for each vendor. Then it can be searched for by manufacturer. Bear with me as this is just the beginning and I am the only one working on it so implicating that may take a bit of time.

Ok so what I managed to do was to add the products they carry on each suppliers stats page.

Here is an example:

This was just for testing in my coding but this is how they will display on the suppliers stats page where it says Products Carried: Joytech, Innokin

I still have to code the search capability and then you will be able to search vendor by product manufacturer.

Well for anyone interested it is ready besides adding more vendors which will be an ongoing process. The site is fully functionable and is searchable by keywords like manufacturer or brand. I have 5 more pages of vendors to go through and add keywords to the description which will take time as I have to look up each vendor and grab keywords from their products. It will evolve over time.
