Been using those 306's for many months now. They seem to last me around a month, by that time they start tasting burnt, and just don't vape that well. Though honesty, I never clean me mine, so I bet I could get longer than a month out of them if I did clean them...

Hey Shinypaladin, does smartvapes have a recommended cleaning procedure for your dripping attys?

Hiya,

Back when this thread first began, I asked about mid-range (SR) dripping attys, and you said they'd be coming soon. It's taken me this long to really discover how much I like dripping, and I'm wanting to try these out, but only see 1.8 and 3.0 versions. Do you have any that fall between those ohms, say 2.5 +/- 1 or so?

Oh, and could someone explain to me what a drip shield actually does? :)

I took the plunge and ordered some Smartvapes Dripping 306s and a 510, all at 1.8 ohms for use on my Vmod XL. I'm pretty excited, from what I've read they seem like they're going to be great. I normally use Joye 306s and they are great at first, but kind of lose some kick after about a week and the flavor becomes kind of generic. I'm hoping the Smartvapes dripping attys will be better. I picked up a Panasonic 2250mah 18650 also.

I have a few of the Joye 306's that I got because there was a good deal on them ($15 for 3 shipping included). They'll get me by, I do regret being so darn cheap; they pale in comparison (much less clean tasting and not quite as good vapor) to these and the extra few bucks wouldn't have killed me. I'm sure you'll be happy with both atty styles and I've heard really good things about that battery too (Don't have one yet, but I plan to get one or two myself at some point). Looks like the Vmod XL has catch basin/chamber which is a big plus if you use PG-heavy liquid. If you DIY your liquid, just make it on the thicker side; these atties (esp the 510) are monsters with thicker juices.

I don't know Alan's guidance here but would be interested.

I do know my cleaning method is officially advised against on the site :p

Still, I get about 5 weeks average from them and the performance is near-new the whole way. Again, my method is explicitly NOT recommended on the site, but it works well for me: rinse/blow/dry burn/repeat.

Should you decide to give that a go, just don't do it until the atty performance drops off, and proceed with caution. You don't want to get yellow/white, just a nice bright orange across the coil. You should read up on the routine if you've not done it before, and also make certain you are not stressing your batteries or your device - any unusual heat (aside from the atty): STOP.

The atties also stand up fine to a good boiling or coke baths; I just like the speed and effectiveness of the dry burn - for me. YMMV

Nice to hear another person happy with the SV Dripping Attys. The Joyes are nice to have a good stock of just in case. I like Cisco attys and IKV attys, but they sell out quickly and to be honest, I don't think Cisco and IKV attys are that much better than Joye. The Vmod XL is great. I love the juice delivery system on it. Yes, I read the SV dripping attys are better with thicker juices, I mostly use 100% VG juices.

On the testing I've seen the Panasonics perform better than AWs, I had to give em a go after that.

Uh-oh... juice delivery system? i.e. bottom feeder? 8-o I wish this clicked for me earlier... I believe that would be an issue for you. From the site:

*This is a Sealed center post Atomizer so it will not work with a automatic ecig battery

I hope you have something else you can use them with...it would be a crying shame if they went unused

Sorry tricci.

ETA: Just read your "current arsenal"...phew! Good stuff you got there ;) (so I hear anyway...what I have that's "worth" using I had to make myself)

Thanks! No worries about the Vmod XL. It is a bottom feeder but it doesn't use a pin like most others. It can use both unsealed and sealed atomizers. :)

What kind of mods have you made?

Well isn't that a neat feature. Who knew?

I haven't made anything unique really; all been stuff that's been done as it's all from what I've learned here @ ECF. Several different styles of box mods including a variable voltage that I don't ever like being without. Keeps me outta trouble ;)

I usually use 100mg% vg anyways, maybe that is part of why I like the dripping attys so much.

Although I do build mods, I have yet to try a bottom feeder. I just have doubts about how they will effect the draw and the taste, but I have been looking at the one on smartvapes that works with the sealed center post of the dripping attys.

I'm going to pick up a few of those panasonic batts on my next order, I've heard really great things about them.

Yeah, the Vmod XL has a two chamber design, a sleeve that goes over the atty and a cone that screws over that. No leaking. Right on making your own mods, that must be really satisfying. One of these days I'm going to get one of my friends to teach me how to solder so I can make my own VV box mods.

I find that (for me) bottom feeding does not taste any different than dripping. So BFs (the ones that use pins that go up in the atty) do affect draw, but I find the Vmod XL does not make the draw tighter. I haven't tried the Smartbox XL yet, but that will be my next mod purchase, I really want a mod that uses a 26650 battery.

Okay, I'll have to give a bottom feeder a shot now...

Right on! I think the only thing better will be an atomizer tank, I know Cisco and Hannah are working on one, but it's still probably a ways a away and the Oddy is far too expensive ($180) and near impossible to get. I highly recommend the Vmod XL, I love it. I think the Smartbox and Smartbox XL will be great too. I haven't used them but they have the same type of raised connection as my Infinity Pro and using an atty and a drip shield on my pro does not affect the draw much at all.
