Joined CASAA and wrote to Seal Beach City Council members here in OC.
They have put a moratorium on opening e-cig retailers for 45 days. I said a lot of things, one of them was that it was not in the best interest of the city, or the public. I asked them to do more research on the subject of vaping and referrenced all kinds of info sources including ECF.

Thank you for joining CASAA. I know CASAA had a Call to Action on the Seal Beach issue. I wrote to them also, even though I don't live in the state, what happens in any state will eventually impact us all.

I think we have enough Email addresses. Any suggestions on what form to put them in so that people can just copy and paste them in the BCC portion of the email? I am not good with Google Docs or outside programs. I have email addresses for the big three networks and thanks to several people, even have them for some major plubications. Also, we have email addresses for other news programs such as MSNBC. Thank you Elf for sending them to me.

It was suggested that people send emails to everyone's local Letter to the Editor. You can absolutely do that too. Any place you want your story to reach. I still think that a mass influx of stories to the Big Three news will have an impact. At the least, you will be a part of doing something that, to my knowledge, has not been tried.

Welcome to the digital age of peaceful, positive protesting :D

I think yahoo mail used comma separation. One thing about the cc and bcc; if you get too many addresses, some services start sending it all to a spam folder.

Ohh good tip. Since I have some multiple addresses for, say ABC, I should only choose 1 or 2 instead of the 4-5 that I have. Good point! Thanks :)

Keeping it simple is key I think. ;)

BigBen, that's pretty impressive (especially if you were employed by Yahoo early in the game). A few years back I applied at google when they were actually hiring, and needless to say -- I didn't get the gig. I sorta felt it was a long shot on account that the application process reminded me of my old MENSA entrance exams

Hourly limit; if you send more than 100 emails in one hour (regardless of how many people they go to), you'll get flagged as a spammer, and your emails are either going to be delayed, or dropped without notice. Your account could become temporarily disabled.

Hopefully each person will only send one batch out.
I love learning new things! :)

Thanks. I did tech support for their online store, and web hosting. It was really interesting; never a boring day! Thought about joining Mensa some time ago, but it looked mainly like a social club.

The e-mail restrictions are more or less universal, so if anyone is using gmail, hotmail, msn, ... just keep it simple. Use two email messages if you have to.

Thanks for the info BigBen. This is good advice.

Emailed CNN and Local stations. Also posted on social networks!
Remember, this is something we're all planning to do on the same day.
The idea is to maximize the impact of a steam of emails coming in all throughout the day.

That day is September 19th, which is World Vaping Day.

I think it might be nice to send out a press release to news organizations apx 24-48 hours ahead of time. Be sure to include contacts for further information. There are also several newspapers including McClatchy.

Personally, I'd like to see individual stories sent to some of the self-proclaimed consumer health groups such as ACA, ALA, etc.

Another focus might be dropping by, in person, state and national representatives offices to say "hi" and talk about the issue w a letter. Turn ourselves into "lobbyists". Ask if anyone in the office smokes and see if they'd like to try one (a give-away program). I got the idea from cigar advocates who gave away cigars to local and national reps.

What I'm not sure of is if this is a way to "celebrate"? I wish there were more time because this could have been a way to spread the good news nationally with a massive ecig give-a-way program to any smoker that wants to try an ecig.

I think there is enough membership and vendor support to fuel such a program and I'm not sure a give-a-way program would be a possibility later on since ANTZ might consider it a promo, coupon, etc that they don't allow with reg cigarettes. I think that might attract positive attention in the media also. I know Panda ran a give-away program for a limited time that got enormous response. The point of this is to get the message out that smokers DO want to quit smoking cigarettes and the fact they haven't been able to may not be as simple as ANTZ would like everyone to believe, and of course, pointing to something that is successful.

Just random thoughts. It's kind of late for an event 8 days away.
