Robin, I'm working on a blog post about ideas for the day/week. Are you on the CASAA Skype group for active members yet? I'd like to team you up with someone to help me get something out on Monday, if you're willing?

I don't have Skype. I'm more than happy to help in any way. :)

Where was this posted?
I just looked at american cancer society fb page and there are no posts from today.

I found the post and it is still on their Facebook page. I found it under a section on their page called "Recent Posts by Others" Not as easy find from my perspective but they did not delete it.

Hourly limit; if you send more than 100 emails in one hour (regardless of how many people they go to), you'll get flagged as a spammer, and your emails are either going to be delayed, or dropped without notice. Your account could become temporarily disabled.

I'm still catching up and as I was looking to see if someone had mentioned this. Good advice, BigBen. We would want to make ourselves out to look like spamming, email bombers. This is not meant to harm anyone and we are NOT Kamikaze! :headbang:

I'm keeping my list of email addresses down to about 26. If people want to add more addresses, there is room to do so. Some may want to email their local Editor or even their elected officials. I want to make sure that none of the emails get blocked and I don't want anything to happen to anyone's account. :)

I've always seen a list of emails in a plain .txt document. Often downloaded in a zip file. I'm a creature of habit. Publishing emails on a site is usually not a good idea because Google will pick up on it and draw the wrong type of attention.

I'm really wondering if news media is the best target beyond the press release. However, this is not my baby and I'm grateful you were here to pick up the ball and get it rolling. You've done a great job.

I just really want to target public health departs and everyone associated. Maybe we could start a thread for those addresses for future planning. I don't even know how a group can research and submit address without publishing them. I know of a couple of groups that have crowdsourced information (I'm thinking out loud). They opened a private area where people could independantly submit information.

There are a few blogs where op-eds and studies can be posted, which then can be selected for news readers, into other blogs, etc. I've noticed CASAA is not on them. But that's another subject.

University online courses use mail lists to get info out to relatively large groups. Those participating would have to submit their name and address to the mail list. The info could be int the body of the email or an attached file. Don't have time to set that up yet, might be visible in future events like this.

Having the file available on FaceBook would be another way. A group could open the file online and edit it adding/copying info that is needed whenever they want.

My :2c:

Excuse my ignorance, but could you define your acronyms - looked it up on the internet and it says, "Prostate-specific Antigen"

I see Steve answered. Public Service Announcement. ;)

I REALLY hope that we continue to have the chance to have National and World Vaping Day EVERY year.

I'm very pleased that this little project has managed to come together as well as it has in......... What?........ Less than 2 weeks! From conception to now. I'm blown away.

 you all!

If anyone decides to tweet, be sure and not send the same tweet over and over...change each one slightly so you don't get suspended for spamming.

Twenty-six emails should be ok, plus they won't be coming in all at the same time, so the servers should be able to handle it. I hope the subject line doesn't get picked up by a spam filter, seeing that we are using similar, if not exact wording on all of them.

My wife's cousin works, or used to work, for Thai Channel 3. I'm going to contact her to see if she thinks Thai news would be interested in covering any story that breaks out that day.

This thread has Views: 5,018 as of 9:28 AM EST. You guys did go back to standard time already, didn't you?

I think the smallest number of email addresses in a single mailing before it gets any type of flag is 8. Read that in a mag several years ago. It also has to do with the repetition of the emails being sent. Since computers really aren't intelligent all they can do is count the cycles and mark the instance. After so many instances your email address gets flagged as a spammer and disabled. I'm sure there are some IT specialists here that could help us with this so we don't trash our personal email accounts.

Since the emails will be coming from different people, one email blast per person is all I'm talking about, it shouldn't raise any type of flag for the person sending the email. I hope this can be settled before people start getting scared and don't want to do this.

My intention is to NOT cause any difficulties for ANYONE involved. If I thought there was a risk...

In case Kristin comes here, I will not be able to check on this thread for most of the day today. I'm going to be away from Internet access from 12:30 till later this evening. I will check back after I get back home.
