On the 18th, I will supply the email addresses of the different new agencies that we want the emails to go to.

The plan is to flood the media with Positive stories about how the e-cigarette has helped us quit smoking and better our life. We want to flood them on ONE day. World & National Vaping Day which is September 19th. We would like the Subject line to be as consistent throughout the emails so that it shows a unified front.

In a sense, this is a positive peaceful protest.
The hope is to get a couple of news agencies to see that there ARE positives about the ecigs and they are worth looking into as a healthy alternative to smoking.

SAMPLE EMAIL

Subject line: National & World Vaping Day, The E-cig Saved me from inhaling over 4000 chemicals.

Message body: There are approximately 600 ingredients in cigarettes. When burned, they create more than 4,000 chemicals. At least 50 of these chemicals are known to cause cancer, and many are poisonous. The electronic cigarette, on the other hand, has 4 ingredients: propylene glycol and/or vegetable glycerin, food grade flavoring (optional) and nicotine (optional)...all FDA approved ingredients, and none of which have been proven to cause cancer.

It has been INSERT YOUR OWN NUMBERS HERE days since I last had a cigarette. That comes to INSERT YOUR OWN NUMBERS HERE cigarettes that I have NOT smoked and over $INSERT YOUR OWN NUMBERS HERE that I have NOT spent on tobacco cigarettes.

I owe that to electronic cigarettes.

I want to get the word out to every news organization and ask that you not be mislead by the advocates of big tobacco and big pharmacy who claim that e-cigarettes are bad for you:

CIGARETTES ARE MUCH MORE HARMFUL!

The patches, gum and drugs have a dismal failure rate. Listen to the “man on the street” and you will find there are more of us that have quit smoking tobacco by using e-cigarettes than you think; we number in the hundreds of thousands, if not millions. And that number grows every day.

....then continue on with a short paragraph about your personal journey.

Thank you for taking the time to read my email.

Sincerely,

YOUR NAME HERE

Thank you, everyone, for all your hard work and splendid ideas! I have the addys listed and my email ready to send off tonight. Did a slight rewrite on Robin's suggested draft:

Subject line: Celebrate World Vaping Day 9/19/2013

It has been 10 months and 17 days since I last smoked a cigarette. That comes to 12,867 cigarettes that I have NOT smoked and over $2,316 that I have NOT spent on tobacco cigarettes.

I owe that to electronic cigarettes. Because I was able to switch from smoking to e-cigarettes, I now breathe easier and have more energy. I no longer wake up coughing. I can smell flowers, and I can taste vanilla ice cream, things I wasn't able to do during my 50+ years as a smoker.

I want to get the word out to every news organization and ask that you not be misled by the vocal, but counterfactual, advocates for the industries and organizations whose profession is tobacco and e-cigarette prohibition. They claim that e-cigarettes might be harmful. Well,

CIGARETTES ARE MUCH MORE HARMFUL!

There are approximately 600 ingredients in cigarettes. When burned, they create more than 4,000 chemicals. At least 50 of these chemicals are known to cause cancer, and many are toxic. The electronic cigarette, on the other hand, has up to only 4 ingredients: propylene glycol and/or vegetable glycerin, food grade flavoring (optional) and nicotine (optional), all FDA approved ingredients, none of which is toxic and and none of which has been proven to cause cancer.

The voices you will hear today, on World Vaping Day, are those of us who who have switched from smoking tobacco to using the much safer e-cigarette. There are more of us than you may think; in this country alone, we number in the hundreds of thousands, if not millions. Worldwide, we number in the millions, if not tens of millions. And that number grows every day. Each and every one of us is prolonging life and improving health.

I respectfully hope that on this day you will give us the recognition we deserve. Thank you for taking the time to read my email.

Sincerely,

I would appreciate any comments or suggestions, especially if you think I might be sending any message I shouldn't be sending, or not saying something I should. (I purposely left out mention of smoking cessation, as that is NOT the message I, personally, want to send...)

No butterflies here, just huge excitement!

I think it's great! I might steal some of yours for mine! :D.

The point is to just use the sample as a template of sorts. Personalize it and make it your own. It is YOUR story to tell. No one can tell your story better than you yourself can!

OMG this is actually happening!!!!!

Just blasted every FB vaper's group of which I'm a member with the CASAA call to action article - my local group (502 members) got an extra pointer to this particular effort. Thanks Robin & Tvan for all you've done!

Thanks Charm! There were more involved than just the two of us. Many people gave suggestions here and there, helped pull information together, changed the opening post when I was no longer able to. Just so many friendly, caring, passionate people.

Thank you.
