I copied Robin's letter and inserted my story:
I smoked for 40 years. For the last few years I was up to about a pack and a half per day. I was unable to quit smoking using over the counter products and have no health insurance, so couldn't try the kinds that require a prescription.
On August 10, 2012, I tried an electronic cigarette for the first time and have not smoked a tobacco cigarette since. A big part of my success is due to being able to choose flavors that are different from tobacco and menthol (which, for me, are too close to cigarettes), being able to adjust my nicotine levels as needed, and to use battery devices that last longer than the expensive little ones sold at convenience stores.
I am a non-smoker. I am a vaper. Please don't let misinformation and disingenuous legislation block my access to the only thing that has kept me off of cigarettes. I will buy off of the black market if I have to, but pray it won't come to that.
When I smoked cigarettes I was a member of a class of people it was not only acceptable, but encouraged, to treat as inferior. tobacco addiction has gone from a health issue to a moral one and I am tired of being marginalized.
I am 54 years old. I am a non-smoker. I am a vaper.
ETA: I got 5 acknowledgments. I also sent a copy to Frontline. I somehow got on their mailing list and they keep sending me stuff, so I figured I'd send something back.
