Bounced back: abramsreport@msnbc.com, letter.editor@edit.wsj.com, cnn.onair@cnn.com, letters@newsweek.com, Feedback3@turner.com

I copied Robin's letter and inserted my story:

I smoked for 40 years. For the last few years I was up to about a pack and a half per day. I was unable to quit smoking using over the counter products and have no health insurance, so couldn't try the kinds that require a prescription.

On August 10, 2012, I tried an electronic cigarette for the first time and have not smoked a tobacco cigarette since. A big part of my success is due to being able to choose flavors that are different from tobacco and menthol (which, for me, are too close to cigarettes), being able to adjust my nicotine levels as needed, and to use battery devices that last longer than the expensive little ones sold at convenience stores.

I am a non-smoker. I am a vaper. Please don't let misinformation and disingenuous legislation block my access to the only thing that has kept me off of cigarettes. I will buy off of the black market if I have to, but pray it won't come to that.

When I smoked cigarettes I was a member of a class of people it was not only acceptable, but encouraged, to treat as inferior. tobacco addiction has gone from a health issue to a moral one and I am tired of being marginalized.

I am 54 years old. I am a non-smoker. I am a vaper.

ETA: I got 5 acknowledgments. I also sent a copy to Frontline. I somehow got on their mailing list and they keep sending me stuff, so I figured I'd send something back.

These emails can also have a bad side. A thought that just crossed mine and my girlfriends mind. These lawmakers and different media companies that we are trying to get the attention of can also step back a take a look at this like, wow theres a LOT of people that use these, lets put a bigger tax on all these stuff to get more money becuase obviously a crapload of people use them and buy this stuff. I know this might sound confusing and it makes sense in my head but im having a hard time putting my thoughts to words lol. If that makes any sense. Obviously media cant put taxes on things, but the people that can and do have this power will see this if it does get the medias attention. And we all know that some of these big media companies are in governments pocket.

I knew we could all count on you! Thank you for sending yours! :)

Thank you for the kind words but it isn't about individuals. It's about this great community coming together to make this happen. :)

My Version

Good Morning,

There are approximately 600 ingredients in cigarettes. When burned, they create more than 4,000 chemicals. At least 50 of these chemicals are known to cause cancer, and many are poisonous. The electronic cigarette, on the other hand, has 4 ingredients: propylene glycol and/or vegetable glycerin, food grade flavoring (optional) and nicotine (optional)...all FDA approved ingredients, and none of which have been proven to cause cancer.

It has been 96 days since I last had a cigarette. That comes to 2,941 cigarettes that I have NOT smoked and over $514.74 that I have NOT spent on tobacco cigarettes.

I owe that to electronic cigarettes.

I want to get the word out to every news organization and ask that you not be mislead by the advocates of big tobacco and big pharmacy who claim that e-cigarettes are bad for you:

CIGARETTES ARE MUCH MORE HARMFUL!

Since I have started vaping I quit smoking!!! My house and clothes no longer smell bad. My Doctor is proud of me and told me it is one of the best decisions I could have made for my health. I smoked for 37 years, when I quit I was smoking close to two packs per day. I could not have quit smoking without vaping. In the past I tried hypnosis, acupuncture, nicotine gum, and nicotine patches, none of which lasted more than 2 weeks before I was back to smoking. Since I have quit smoking and switched to vaping I have less headaches, I don't wake up in the morning hacking and coughing, my senses of taste and smell are much improved leading me to use less salt which is also a health benefit. I have more energy and my endurance improves daily. I can now walk the 1/3 of a mile to my mail box and back (downhill to the box, uphill to my house) with out huffing and puffing. I have seen so many improvements in my life since I gave up smoking for vaping, not to mention the pollution I did not add to the atmosphere from the almost 3,000 cigarettes I have not smoked. There are tens of thousands, if not over a million people who can tell you stories similar to mine. It is my fervent hope that people will realize that vaping is a much healthier option than smoking. People see a smoke-like exhale and automatically assume it is harmful or bad. "If it looks like a cigarette it must be bad like a cigarette" could not be further from the truth. Please help spread the word in a positive manner and you could be helping save lives. This story does not involve murder, war, or mayhem, but it is important.

I Sincerely thank you for taking the time to read my story,

Katrina L. Becker

Update: 5 bounce backs - 1 from CNN, 1 from WSJ, USA Today, 1 from msnbc, and Abramsreport.

NAILED IT!

Today, September 19, is World Vaping Day and I would like take the opportunity to ask that you not be mislead by advocates of tobacco, pharmacy, and government ...ALL of whom claim that e-cigarettes "could be" bad for you (and, interestingly enough, ALL of whom have a clear financial interest from making such a claim).

There are approximately 600 ingredients in tobacco cigarettes that, when burned, create more than 4,000 chemicals; at least 60 of these chemicals are carcinogenic in humans and animals. This is a well-known, well-documented scientific fact. The electronic cigarette, however - or more specifically the "ejuice" an electronic cigarette uses - has EXACTLY 4 ingredients:

USP grade, Kosher certified propylene glycol and/or
USP grade, kosher certified vegetable glycerin
FDA-approved, food grade flavoring (optional) and
USP grade nicotine (optional)

...NONE of which have been found to cause cancer or to be chemically dangerous in any significant way, either individually or in combination with each other.

I'm just a regular Kansas Joe, though, and I'm not here to try and convince you. I cannot possibly say that e-cigarettes are 100% safe (what in life is 100% safe?), all I am here to do is to offer my own personal testimonial and relay my belief that electronic cigarettes have, quite likely and quite literally, saved my life.

I smoked tobacco cigarettes for 26 years. I am now 48-yrs old and it has been 87 days since I last had a tobacco cigarette. I have absolutely no desire for - or even think about - tobacco any more. I've stopped wheezing, my breathing has improved, I'm back to a daily exercise regime, have lost weight, and my health is improving overall. What was the miracle for me? ...electronic cigarettes.

So, the next time you write an article on the possible risks of e-cigarettes - based on old information, extremely questionable practices/principles, and/or grossly distorted conclusions - you should know that there are hundreds of thousands of us out here, nationally, in the real world living and experiencing the actual benefits of e-cigarettes.

Have a pleasant World Vaping Day.
I added all of my local news stations to the list.

Kudos to all you early birds!!!!!! I couldn't sleep.

You All Rock!!

Someone once told me that you can't fight a dragon with a toothpick. I said yes you can, if you goes for it's eyes. Not the nicest analogy, but I accomplished what they said couldn't be done.
