is there any emails for like EU/UK etc? this is a really good idea!

Unfortunately, no. Hopefully this will have some kind of impact and we can make it a more global effort next year. I am going to suggest that this be an annual event with the Same Date. It would give people more time to pull this kind of thing together. We only came up with this idea less than two weeks ago. I had a really hard time finding email addresses for things here in the States!

I would love for this to be HUGE every year!

Which major players? I really, Really, REALLY want ABC, NBC and CBS to go through.
Good job!! :D

At least CNN has a contact/reply tool on their site - the text can be copied and pasted into their page and sent. The have several subjects you can comment on so I picked 'Living'. If everybody went there and sent something they would be hard to ignore.

Did we get a press-release out?

I just sent one to rachelmaddow@msnbc.com and it went through, but couldn't find the others.

Just sent one to that email address. :)

As did I.

and this is a copy of my testimonial

There are approximately 600 ingredients in cigarettes. When burned, they create more than 4,000 chemicals. At least 50 of these chemicals are known to cause cancer, and many are poisonous. The electronic cigarette, on the other hand, has 4 ingredients: propylene glycol and/or vegetable glycerin, food grade flavoring (optional) and nicotine (optional)...all FDA approved ingredients, and none of which have been proven to cause cancer.

It has been 676 days since I last had a cigarette. That comes to 20280 cigarettes that I have NOT smoked. I owe that to electronic cigarettes.

I want to get the word out to every news organization and ask that you not be mislead by the advocates of big tobacco and big pharmacy who claim that e-cigarettes are bad for you: CIGARETTES ARE MUCH MORE HARMFUL!

The patches, gum and drugs have a dismal failure rate. Listen to the “woman on the street” and you will find there are more of us that have quit smoking tobacco by using e-cigarettes than you think; we number in the hundreds of thousands, if not millions. And that number grows every day.

I started smoking way back before most folks gave any thought as to how bad it could end up being. Both of my parents smoked as did just about everyone I came into contact with. I smoked my first cigarette during my 17th year and finally was able to put them down for good during my 63rd year. That was about 45 years of sometimes up to 2 packs a day going up in smoke. I tried several times during the last few of those 45 years to quit. The longest time I was able to stop was 6 months. Other times it would only last a couple of weeks. I finally decided to give the nicotine patch a try. It worked about as well as wearing a bandaid. I found myself both smoking and wearing the patch at the same time.
18 months ago I decided to give this new technology a try and the rest is history. I picked up a simple battery kit at my local smoke shop. I also bought my usual 2 cartons of cigarettes. I never even opened them. I am no longer a smoker. I started out with 24mg nic strength and am now down to 14-16 mg. Over time I will probably lower the strength but it is not a priority at this time.
After the first week smoke free I no longer woke up and spent the first hour coughing up yesterdays damage. I can now take a deep breath and feel no pain. I breath better and feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my chest. Instead of burning tobacco and who really knows for sure what else I now vape wonderful flavors full of variety. Instead of my home smelling like an old wet ashtray it is now filled with light fruit aromas such as pomagranite, grape, black cherry and pears.
My husband has cut his cigarette consumption down to an eighth of what it was and both of my sisters are smoke free now thanks to this life saving device.

Thank you for taking the time to read my life saving story,

Sincerely,

M. Werst

Regarding the OP:

:) Very cool. I'm going to make, and send emails right now, until I gotta get back to work!

TIP to people emailing media. Send your email to only one address at a time. Don't CC it. As someone who reads a lot of mail, when I see an email that was sent to me as part of a cc (carbon copy) chain, it makes me think that its kinda cheap and impersonal. :2c:

But who am I? :p Just email your testimonials, friends!

BCC is better. All going out at one time and no one sees all the extra addresses :p ;)

Here are the server responses from the email that bounced this morning. Not sure what all this means but an IT person could help us out just in case there are errors in the addresses that were offered by the sites themselves. The one from turner went through and returned the response as listed the first four are from the yahoo server.

I'm sure the media is used to it. I really wouldn't bother with BCC (I didn't).

Twitter works around hashtags (#).

I had to send a copy to TRMS (Maddow) :2cool:

Let's plan for next year; e-mail, Twitter, and Facebook. And local event guidelines. Maybe we could reach out to other national efforts throughout the world.
