Searched world and national vaping day and this came up from Mar 2012:

World Vaping Day - YouTube

That was last year. I remember that. I wasn't so into the activism at the time. That's why I'm saying we need to have a set date EVERY YEAR not just whenever they think that they should have it. THat never made sense to me.

Could you post a sample we could use for tweeting?

The CASAA meeting is tonight and I'm going to bring up the subject of trying to keep this date for every year. It would then be easier to ramp up events.

I Would STRONGLY oppose that idea.

Look at Twitter... and What Hash tag is trending regarding what "International" day it is today...

Better to pick a new date and stick to it than to compete with a well established unofficial holiday

As stated... we need to pick a different day though.

Seems silly to compete for media attention with the most well established unofficial grassroots holiday.

Robin, CASAA actually has no say regarding the date of this event. CASAA is not an organizer of this event, but encourages members to get involved and will promote the activities that our members come up with to the best of our ability. :)

You would have to talk with the World Vaping Day organizers/founders about keeping the date the same:

World Vaping Day

Kristin, I will certainly contact them. Maybe with so many people participating, it might make a difference if they knew we would have a better response if we have more time to plan things. It just makes sense to have the same date all the time. Thanks for the contact info. I will do it right now. :)

#WorldVapingDay #StopTheLies #FollowTheMoney #SupportVaping

Flood social media with support and facts to counter Big Tobacco's lies.
Good.

You really have to be smart with Twitter, and use a hashtag that matches your message.

Oher tags: #ecig , #ecigs , #stopsmoking , and of course #smoking (but that one's also used in other contexts...)

It took a lot of people to make this happen. You were amongst the many DC2. You all took what started out as a normal conversation and made it into a dream come true. :)
It often takes numerous people to make something special happen.
But nothing special ever happens when there is nobody that gives things a push.

The FDA website is full of different links to contact different departments. It's a little confusing to say the least. I would think we should go through the tobacco link but there are other links that might be more receptive to vaping. Any suggestions?

Added info about the FDA Ombudsman: This might be the correct lead for our purposes...
Deleted ===> CTP Ombudsman info.

I ended up going with this connection at the FDA based on the language on the site..
Regulatory Submissions:

Use the CTP mailing address but please put Attn: Document Control Center
Formal Correspondence and Speech and Meeting Requests:
ctpexecsec@fda.hhs.gov Also submit a proposed agenda and attendee list.

Good news?

FDA, NIH create 14 centers to do tobacco research

September 19, 2013 01:51 PM EST | AP

RICHMOND, Va. — The Food and Drug Administration and the National Institutes of Health are awarding millions in funding to create 14 centers to conduct research on tobacco products.

Officials said Thursday that the agencies have awarded up to $53 million for fiscal 2013 for the Tobacco Centers of Regulatory Science, mostly at universities around the country.

The centers can eventually receive more than $273 million over the next five years for research on marketing of tobacco products, adverse health consequences, ways to reduce addiction and toxicity, as well as so-called modified risk tobacco products.

The federal agencies say the centers will help shape regulations on tobacco products with the aim of protecting the public health and reducing the death and disease caused by tobacco use.

Thanks for bringing that to our attention. I guess the good news will have to wait until we find out Who they have chosen to do the research......
