World War Z
Has anyone seen the movie, listened to the audio book, or read the novel by Max Brooks?

I recently saw the movie (love zombie and horror films) and have to say I thought it was pretty good. The filmmakers were able to create a sense of dread, suspense, tension, anxiety, and terror and they did it without the need for alot of blood and gore. There were several moments that actually made me jump!

Zombies have come along way since "Night of the Living Dead", "Dawn of the Dead", etc. The old school zombies were extraordinarily slow moving, shambling about stiff-legged and such (possibly due to rigamortis). And because they were so slow, all ya had to do was step aside and whack 'em in the head with a baseball bat or something, or simply trot away at a brisk walk.

The zombies in the film are quite energetic, very fast moving, with almost cat-like reflexes. They also have strong instincts, can differentiate between healthy and sick or terminally ill victims (and will ignore the sick ones), and seem to demonstrate the ability to work cooperatively (i.e. the zombie ladder). They seem to be only interested in infecting people with a single bite, and do not appear to feed on flesh or have a desire for spicy gourmet brains.

Of course they are still dumb as a stone but I think they have made great strides for zombiekind. I am waiting for the day when they are able to use tools or weapons or even drive automobiles.:D
