Hi there! My name is Brenzhe and I'm new here :3
Last night I accidentally fell asleep with my sony VTC5 on the charger and when I woke up and noticed I immediately took it off the charger. I grabbed my multimeter and when I tested the battery, it was at 4.39. I've never charged it over 4.2 before and now I'm worried about whether or not I can even use it anymore. :(
Help me out? Is it safe to use?

Let it rest another 30 minutes and check the voltage again.
Though it isn't good to overcharge a battery you're only talking about .14 ish of a volt over.

What charger are you using? most have a cutoff value built in.

I'm using a trustfire. .__.
It's gone down to 4.33v, and I'm using a .2Ω build. Is it safe?

Toss the trustfire charger into the trash can and pick up an xtar or efest luc or nitecore intellicharger.

4.33v / .2 = 21.65a & 93.74w
If it is safe depends on the accuracy of what you're using to measure voltage & resistance.
Just me, I don't consider .2 safe in any circumstances, based on the known inaccuracy of most dvom / ohm meter / readers.
Two tenths of of a single ohm away from a dead short being held in hand and placed to mouth / face.

The battery will continue to slowly discharge as it sits may take over night or more to reach 4.2ish, or you can put it in the tube and screw on something without wicking material and cautiously pulse discharge the battery to 4ish.
