I modded this stainless machine screw to solve a prob I have been having with #646 connection spring.

The spring likes to "dig in" to the back battery plate and leaves a round gouge and sometimes gets hung up when tightening the GGTS. You can feel and hear the spring twisting around in there before the "pop" of it freeing itself.

I do not overtighten, but this seems to occur anyways, regardless.

I also have firing probs sometimes and I believe the culprit is from the spring digging in, twisting and not having a fully seated connection.

Thought this up, went to work and it runs like a top now.

My question however, if this is ok to do?

I can't forsee any probs, but I'm not an electrical expert either.

Thoughts?

Looks good Serp, I can't see it would be a problem.

Where did you get the machine screw ?

I have thought about this very same problem, all my batteries are starting to show a circular gouge.

I've also had the odd firing issue too, I thought it was the button or the post the battery spring fits into, so I would dismantle and clean all parts and the problem seemed to go away, but all along it may have been a bad contact with battery spring.

I'm no electrical expect, anyone else care to put Serp's mind at ease.

Thanks k3v.

Just a screw I dug up from all the odds and end bits laying around

It threaded on the spring perfect. I just needed to shorten the post then surface ground the top smooth.

No twisting or gouging now and has flat contact across the battery plate.

Fires like flicking a light switch too.

Hoping it keeps working. :)

Hey guys dump the spring and get the fuse kit. Hits harder and has much better feel for tightening

I agree, I bought one fuse kit for my GGTS, it is much better than the default spring than came with it.

I will buy another fuse kit for my Stealth as soon they become available again, Iit would be great if the GGTSs and Stealths would come with the fuse kit as standar and the battery spring as an optional product.

The fuse kit does not work on the stealth. The fuse kit is too short for full stealth mode.
