I had a short break and now I’m here again with yet another review. I was sent the Wotofo Manik Mini pod device for review by Health Cabin in order to do a fair and honest review. You may or may not be familiar with the original Wotofo Manik pod mod that I reviewed and this is supposed to be a mini version of that. In all honesty it doesn’t look much like the original but that’s ok as long as it functions and performs well. It’s a fairly simplistic device so I’ll try to keep my review short and sweet. Let’s go down and take a look at what’s included and some features then I’ll discuss my opinions on it.

FIRST IMPRESSIONS:
When I first opened the package and saw the clear plastic lid over the box containing the kit, I thought “here we go again with another hard to open Wotofo kit”. I was pleasantly surprised that this was not the case. I was able to get the clear lid off the top with very little effort.
Having reviewed the Manik pod mod kit and since this one carried the same name I was expecting something similar in design. I hadn’t seen an image of the mini before I received it so didn’t know what to expect. I saw it and thought that it’s just going to be another mediocre performing pod device. The market is so flooded with pods that really good ones are few and far between.
As you can see in the picture above, I received the red one. Red isn’t my favorite color and most likely would have picked something else if given the choice. That being said, it’s really not a bad shade of red. Me personally, I could have done without the stitching on the leather.
The kit included the pod device containing a 1000mah built in battery which takes approximately one hour to charge, an M11 pod rated at 15-25 watts, an M12 pod rated at 13-20 watts, user manual, and standard USB charging cable. That’s right, no USB-C on this one. The pods do not have replaceable coils so when the pod stops performing to your liking then you throw out the whole thing and install a new one.
The Manik Mini has a nice weight to it. Not too heavy and not light enough to feel cheap. It’s kind of like using a nice pen where the weight gives a feeling of quality. The body is made of zinc alloy and leather. There is a slot on either side of the body at the top to allow airflow.
On one side of the device is the word MANIK stamped into the leather with curved stitching above and below. The other side has the Wotofo logo and name stamped into the leather with the words “ Powered by NexM” and also has the curved stitching. On the bottom it says Designed by Wotofo and 1000mah. The USB Micro port is also on the bottom. On the side with the display there is one button for operation. The opposite side just says NexChip inside on the bottom in small writing. Inside the top where the pod is inserted there are two contacts and two small round magnets. The pod seats very securely and does not come out easily. There is a gasket on the inside of the device where the pod seats to protect from getting liquid inside the battery and electronics. I think this is an excellent idea.
The display on this unit is very small but in all fairness, it’s a small pod device. On the left side of the display in very small font it shows the puff counter and coil resistance. In larger font it shows the set wattage and then to the right in small font again it shows the percentage of battery remaining and the voltage. The operation with the one button is very simple.
The pod is tinted but not too difficult to see the liquid level in. As always, I wish they would have made the pods clear. The pod holds 3ml which is a good amount for a device of this size. The fill port on these pods is on the side which I do like for ease of filling. Of course the pod must be removed to fill. This seems to be the case with about every side fill pod I’ve seen. There are the two electrical contacts on the bottom with an odd cut out shape on the bottom in the center. This cut out matches up with a pin that is in the battery unit and the only thing I can figure out is that the pin aligns with the slots in the pod to keep it from moving once installed. I’m not sure what else that pin could be for. It’s nice that in the metal base of the pod it has the resistance and the recommended wattage range stamped into the metal. It also has the Wotofo name stamped on the opposite side.
I started out with the M11 pod that is the parallel coil pod. I found the flavor to be somewhat mediocre. It wasn’t bad but wasn’t great. I have a tendency on auto fire pods to take a somewhat initial puff and then a second puff with just an instant of time between. By doing this I noticed that the very short pause between puffs allowed the unit to count this as two puffs on the counter. The reason I mention this is that the puff counter registered almost 600 puffs on the counter by the time the battery was dead when running this pod at 18 watts. The pod was still performing well still when I switched to the M12 pod. The M12 pod seemed to have just a little more airflow but noticed a substantial improvement in flavor with this mesh coil pod. Both coils come in reading near .6 ohms but the M12 would be my choice when reordering pods.
Final Thoughts:
So here we have it. The Manik Mini pod kit. The Mini has a nice hand feel and seems to have good build quality. It is fairly attractive in appearance and in my opinion performs well. The 1000mah battery seemed to last a long time for me and can be recharged in about an hour. The flavor production of the pods is decent and noticeably better on the M12.
I like the simple operation of the unit. One button is all you need. I think that most folks that want a pod device that is easy to throw in a pocket without giving up on performance and vapor production will like the Manik Mini. Some may complain that the pods do not have replaceable coils. I honestly don’t mind this as along as the replacement pods aren’t much more expensive than coils would be.
I do have a few Cons for this device which may seem a little nitpicky but it’s my review and I’ll be picky if I want to. First of all, it still uses a Micro USB instead of a USB-C charging port. Second is that the port is on the bottom of the unit so you can’t stand it up while charging. Third is that I don’t care for the stitching on the leather. This is totally my opinion and I may like it better on a different colored unit but on the red I don’t like it.
Overall, the Manik Mini does what it says it will do. It delivers decent flavor and plenty of vapor for such a small unit. It is nice that it has adjustable wattage for such a small device. It doesn’t have adjustable airflow but I wouldn’t really expect that feature in a unit like this anyway.
So would I recommend it? I think I would. It has that medium loose MTL airflow that I like and can easily be carried for out and about. - Five clicks turns the device on and off
- Three clicks of the button will allow you to adjust the wattage. Press the button to adjust one watt at a time or hold the button to fast scroll. It will stop at 30w and you have to release and press again to round robin and start increasing again.
