Say there is a device but it doesn't use 510 or ego type connection. Rather, it is a proprietary connection between the atty and battery. And they are sold as a bundle.

Except that Halo, Bloog and V4L use the exact same connections. So does any 808/vGo device on the market. MadVapes, Smoktek and NHaler sell generic models of the same thing. Also, V4L had automatic spinners nearly a year before S.I. did.I sort of kind of did. I use the Volt X2, which has a standard 808 thread--except that the topper I use also uses the X2 extended skirt thread, which makes it proprietary.
You can theoretically mate an eGo threaded item to it, but it's touchy. However, if you want to do that, an 808 to eGo adapter will work.
So although I can't use my X2 extended thread items on anything else, I can use anything else on my X2 battery.
Prices are reasonable for the X2, and they make the only automatic spinner and one of the few automatic large batteries I've ever found, so I'm not unhappy.
Except Halo is an 808 device. Generic, just not as common as the 510 devices. My first PV was a Halo Triton and their connection is proprietary. Of course, it's limiting (can't use different tanks, batteries, etc.), but it's not that bad and actually a pretty good beginner setup.
