Say there is a device but it doesn't use 510 or ego type connection. Rather, it is a proprietary connection between the atty and battery. And they are sold as a bundle.

No... I Don't think I would.

Unless it Could Pick Winning Lotto Numbers. And Cure E.D while Re-Growing Hair.

I sort of kind of did. I use the Volt X2, which has a standard 808 thread--except that the topper I use also uses the X2 extended skirt thread, which makes it proprietary.

You can theoretically mate an eGo threaded item to it, but it's touchy. However, if you want to do that, an 808 to eGo adapter will work.

So although I can't use my X2 extended thread items on anything else, I can use anything else on my X2 battery.

Prices are reasonable for the X2, and they make the only automatic spinner and one of the few automatic large batteries I've ever found, so I'm not unhappy.

Proprietary is the reason why I personally don't own a hybrid device. I have at home mods and out and about mods. Toppers get switched based on my mood and the flavor in them. I personally would hate to take some of my nicer stuff out and damage/loose it because I wanted to vape flavor X while out and about.

Except that Halo, Bloog and V4L use the exact same connections. So does any 808/vGo device on the market. MadVapes, Smoktek and NHaler sell generic models of the same thing. Also, V4L had automatic spinners nearly a year before S.I. did.
My first PV was a Halo Triton and their connection is proprietary. Of course, it's limiting (can't use different tanks, batteries, etc.), but it's not that bad and actually a pretty good beginner setup.
Except Halo is an 808 device. Generic, just not as common as the 510 devices.

The Go-Go is proprietary, since the adapters are impossible to find anymore. So is the eRoll. And hybrids. I'm not sure if another truly proprietary device exists outside of those cattegories. And I owned an eRoll. It was a great little device.
