No. Even in the best mod factories there are flaws. Even if they are 99.5% perfect, .5% of them will be flawed. You could have gotten unlucky and IMO you can fix almost any mod, regulated or not, with enough practice and tinkering. And the only mod I've had that actually went bad to the point of not being able to fix it was a vamo. Neither one of the two i had lasted more than 6 months

Well, I was going to stay out of this but....you are right about one thing, even the best factory can have flaws. My ProVari was one of those 0.5% with a flaw. Now...tell me what other factory will take it back, fix it or replace it with a new one at NO cost??? Any? Yeah, I thought not.

The other flaw is in thinking that a Provari needs to have all the latest bells and whistles or to try and "keep pace with technology".

It doesnt.

Yeah, it does. That's kind of what "keeping pace with technology" means. I could see the price tag of the ProVari if they were keeping pace with technology instead of just sitting back and selling collector edition color schemes, but new colors is just completely silly when you look around at what has come out over the last year and a half.

Its a simple fact of mechanics that the more moving parts something has and the more complicated the design, the more apt it is to fail.

If you want something that just works and works incredibly well, day after day, month after month and year after year, get a Provari .........or even a Reo which is another excellent mod that embraces these same principles.

I bought my Provari used off the classifieds with the buyer saying it was 6 months old at the time of sale.Ive used it all day, every day, without exception for 18 months and counting and its never let me down.

I've had the exact same Vamo v5 for 9 months now which I bought two weeks after getting a Vamo v2. Not even a hitch in it's performance. I did have an issue with a Vivi Nova tank leaking all over it when I first got it. I left it on with the tank on it, so the juice got in it's inerds. It powered down spontaneously for a few days, which caused me to order another Vamo v5(For $35) but it started working before the other one arrived. I already had a Vamo v2 I got for $30 as a spare as well. So, right now I have two Vamo v5s and a Vamo v2. Total price on those is $100. All of which still work. I can still get two more Vamo v5 to fill the slots in my Legion of Vamos and still not have hit the $180 price tag of a ProVari.

But, instead of those two additional Vamo v5s, I got an R80 mechanical pipe mod for $25. I got a copper nemesis clone for $25. I also got a 14500 based Novice clone for $20. So, I have three vamos and three mechanical mods for less than the cost of that ProVari. I'm really not too worried about being left high and dry at this point.

Also, that scare tactic about having to go back to traditional cigarettes? Carton of cigarettes is $70, the cost of two Vamo v5s. If your ProVari craps out, what are you going to do?

Meanwhile, I have a sub ohm build. It's nice. I really like it. Same price tag mod-wise.

If you have any friends or family who are into construction or use tools on a regular basis in their jobs, start paying attention to what they use. I guarantee you the ones who have been doing it for awhile choose reliable and sturdy over the latest bells and whistles. Thats why Craftsman and Snap-On have such a good reputation.

And most people know a Posilock Pulley Puller beats the old school stuff, innovation!

Like the countless threads before this and the countless ones after this, it appears that some people simply can't get on board with the live and let live philosophy.

First of all: Value is in the eye of the beholder. It is completely subjective.

The question was Would YOU go the extra $ and get a ProVari. My answer is Yes, and I have. twice. I'm not wrong. Because the question was directed to ME. And I gave MY answer.

Since the question was also directed to YOU and you give YOUR answer, then your answer is just as correct as my answer. It is an answer that is asking for your OPINION. And by very nature OPINION is just that.

The Provari is a very well built regulated variable voltage device: Fact
The ProVari has a long track record of reliability: FACT
The ProVari is one of the more accurate voltage regulated e-cigs available. FACT.
The ProVari is worth every penny spent on it: NOT FACT....OPINION.

Unfortunately many in this thread don't know how to separate fact from opinion, and they also don't show their fellow human beings the respect of allowing them to have and own their own opinions. Thus the mod's have to come in and break up another stupid crap flinging fest because some people can't maintain a level of civility.

All true... but sometimes these threads are just so darn stinking fun:)!! LOL!

I should add... since I started vaping, I've become a mod hoarder, and I see advantages to each different type of mod. I definitely have my preferences and favorites, but I still have and can still appreciate the ones I don't use the most anymore.

Provari is actually in this category. I enjoy mech mods, specifically bottom feeder mech mods, the best now. But you know, I will always be grateful for Provari, and I will always have one. The thing is, there are people who want to tinker with their mods/atomizers/vape/juice etc to have a more immersive experience, and there are people who don't want to think about it and just want to vape.

While it's possible to do with a Vamo or cheaper type of mod (I started with an MVP2, and would still recommend it as the very best newbie starter unit), Provari provides peace of mind. It's going to work far more reliably than most other mods, with a much more consistent track record. So regardless if you like to tinker or just to vape, that reliability and repairability matters.

If you are a tinker type, the Provari becomes a reliable tool. I used it to learn how to build coils on, safely. Those extra safety features suddenly mean a lot when you have no idea what you're doing. I still use it as a tool.

As for the cost... give me a break, NO Provari costs more than a months worth of smokes for a smoker. So it's 1/2 a carton vs 2 cartons, and you can use the Provari for 5 years vs 1. I really doubt anyone will be thinking about the cost a year from now, but you'll have gotten to use something very reliable and safe for that entire time.

Is that peace of mind worth the price of a Provari? I'd say so, but as pointed out, whether you are are worth it or not to yourself is opinion. Once you have the reliability, you can enjoy becoming a hoarder of mods, because vaping saved your life and saved you money too:).

I completely agree with this statement. In fact, two years ago, I probably would have shared that opinion with you. However, we're nearly two years passed that point. I can't argue with the facts of it being well made or reliable. It is. However, it's just not current.

I've been vaping for a year now. I started with Blu(Yeah, that lasted about three weeks) and switched to an ego battery with a T3. Even then, I was looking for something more. I looked at the ProVari, the LavaTube, and so forth. I passed on those, because I saw the variable wattage mods. It seemed a lot more simple to let the APV do the math for me, even though I can handle Ohm's Law.

I've read the posts about how variable wattage breaks down on quad coils and higher, and that's a given. However, I'm not sure quad coil is common with the masses. Most things are single or dual coil for the mainstream right now. Honestly, I prefer ProTank 2s on my Vamo and use RDAs for the mech mods. Even with RDAs, I only do dual coil builds.

Is it worth the money? I can't see it, because I can easily buy a fleet of APVs and mechs for the cost of the ProVari. I have yet to kill anything I own. I've retired some APVs and batteries, but that's because I moved on.

The argument that I'll go back to smoking when *one* of them dies is pretty far fetched when you consider you can get an APV or mech a LOT cheaper than a carton of cigarettes. Even then, I can't stand the taste of a cigarette. I tried one last September just to see if I missed it. Not a BIT. In fact, that's probably the least credible argument for the ProVari in this thread - "You'll buy something else which won't work, and you'll be right back to the stinkies."

The question is that of value. When asking is the ProVari worth the extra money, you have to consider what you can get with that money. I pointed out in my previous post, I can get a Vamo v2, two Vamo v5s, and three mech mods for the price of the Provari. That gives me back ups in case one APV dies, and I have a wide amount of options that you can't get with one ProVari.

I can throw whatever ProTank 2 on my Vamo I want and get roughly the same vape off it versus another because it's variable wattage. I can leave the Ohm calculations for when I'm playing with my mechs, which I also love to do. I keep the vamos around for cool down sessions after sub Ohming the mechs or just casual vaping while rebuilding an RDA.

I am currently interested in the DNA30 APVs and have one on order from VaporTekUSA. You can get them for $70, and they go down to .5 Ohm at 30W. I'm sure you won't have a wonderful battery life, but I can vape on that a bit and vape something else.

Value is bang for the buck. For that much buck, how much can you do? I can take that same $180 and do quite a bit.

Oh puleeze... if you are going quad coil, or sub-ohm, just what do you need a regulated mod AT ALL for?

Would I prefer 5 Vamos or 1 Provari? 1 Provari. Would I prefer 5 different mods over 1 Provari? Yes, but they wouldn't be 5 Vamos, and my idea of 5 different mods would cost around $200 and up each. So that's a silly question. The Provari is the 2nd cheapest of my favorite 10 mods out of 32 mods.

If you take decent care of your Provari, you can sell it in the classies for $20 less than you paid for it... 2 years from now. So your getting to use that Provari cost you exactly $20 for 2 years if you take decent care of it. Lets say you don't take decent care of it. Lets say you use it as a hammer, a weapon, and drop it on concrete and run over it with your car. It will still work, and you can sell it in that condition for $80 in the classies, and someone will be happy to buy it from you, all they want to do is vape. Because THEY know they can get it fixed anytime by ProVape for cheap.

What will 5 Vamos cost you? Oh yah, $200, because absolutely no one would buy your used Vamos for $20 even. You will spend all $200. Gee, which is cheaper again? That's if you treat it like a prized jewel. Lets say you treat your Vamos like a Provari, use it as a weapon, a hammer, and run over it with your car. What can you sell that for? Nothing, it will be broken, and no one will fix it for you.

Value and bang for the buck? If you truly care about VALUE, you'd be foolish to buy something with ZERO resale value vs something that can retain some value for years if not forever. Is it always cheaper to buy disposables? This takes no thought for most people. Penny wise, pound foolish comes to mind in this discussion. Hope you don't look at stocks or cars the same way.

How can you save money buying multiple, non serviceable devices?
I'm not able to comment on the VTR and its durability, seems like a decent unit, but what happens when it stops working? Can it be sent in for repair?
I have been through 6 "throwaway" devices in the 2 years I have started all this, and spent more on those, than the one Provari.

IF not when it stops working. And you can take any mod apart if you spend enough time messing with them. Most of the time is a regulated mod stops working there is a short. Fix the short and problem solved

USED Provari.. 28 bids, cost $159 new, and bid is up to $170 (some people are overseas?): Provari Mini V2 5 Polished Stainless Steel Blue LED Display | eBay

Lets compare Ebay to Ebay sales for resale, shall we:)? How much is Vamo new?

In the interest of full disclosure the ProVari sold on ebay would cost 214.90 when you factor in the additional charge for the LED and the extension cap.

However, if you look in the classies here you will see that ProVari's do hold up their resell value rather well.

But again we are talking about Value which is subjective. I am reminded of a conversation I had with my father, rest his soul, that still resonates with me today, and more than anything says something about the differences on what people value.

My father was a very straight forward meat and potatoes guy. He did not spend a lot on luxuries. We had a camper growing up. He liked to hunt and take vacations in the camper. We rarely ate out at 'nice resturaunts.' He loved the buffets. Royal Fork, Bonanza Steakhouse, Sizzler....

After I moved out of the house and got married, I had gone to my first Ruths Chris steak house to celebrate my wife and I's 5th anniversary. I had the most amazing steak I had ever had the joy of putting in my mouth. It was the most sublime porterhouse you could imagine. I can still smell that steak sizzling on the plate and feeling the hot butter crackling off the plate and stinging my face. And when you took that first bite it melted in your mouth and had the most amazing flavor in the world....

I remember oohing and ahhing to my dad over that steak and how he should go there just once, just to splurge. He asked me point blank.."how much did that steak cost you?". To which I replied $36.00 and that doesn't include the sides. He just gave a snort and said...I'd never pay that much for a piece of meat. I can get 18 whoppers at Burger King for what you paid for that steak.

I said, "Dad, you seriously did not just compare a Ruth's Chris Steak to a Whopper did you?

And He said, "I sure did....They both come from a cow and they both make a turd..." That's good enough for me....

That pretty much sums it up. My father and I had different value systems and that's all there is to it.

Maybe I could afford 5 vamos for the price of a ProVari. But given that I can actually detect the loss of power on a Vamo as the battery discharges. I prefer the rock solid performance of the ProVari..... But that's me. I'd choose the Ruth's House Steak over the 18 whoppers any day of the week.

In my 5 months of vaping, I have vaped a Provari with a Taifun GT. The vape was GREAT!! I returned the unit back to my friend after about a week and was hunting for one. Not even close in my price range. Then he had me try the MVP2 with the same tank. After about a week, I felt the experience was about the same. Now I may not be experienced enough to suggest anything worth hearing, but for the price of the MVP2 I seemed to believe that the TRINITY was spot on to a Provari....minus about $150.

Just my opinion...and that does not mean that if I had the option to buy a Provari at the price of an MVP2, I would jump on it.

TRINITY = Flavor/Throat/Vape

My point exactly. I NEVER said the provari wasn't quality, just pricey. Too pricey IMO
