Would you suggest a Reo to a new vaper.

Certainly understand $ as a limitation to going right to a Reo, but a cheaper alternative is just as liable to turn someone back to cigs. With cheaper solutions you run the risk of increased fiddling and out and out failure and frustration, hence back to cigs. In NY 2 cartons of cigs would be enough to set up a Reo. That's the problem with people getting their first vaping experience at 7-11's. Good Luck whatever you choose.

If the cost is not an issue, I say yes, without a doubt.

My first mods were Reos. Before that I had only vaped two disposable e-cigs from the local liquor store (not sure if you call that actual vaping). Then I ordered a Reo without knowing anything about them or vaping, all I knew was my AWs that I already had would work in them. First Reo didn't even ship yet & the very next day I purchased another one. Used Cisco atties with them at the time & was very happy, I still am. Being a total noob to vaping, only the squonking was the part that took a little time to learn. I hated when I flooded the atties when out & about.

Okay' I get that Reo's are awesome and am glad it was my first pricey device but, most people I know aren't going to drop $200 to start vaping.

So let me ask, what you think would be a good first step into the vaping world for a frugal person who rolls their own and can't believe I'd spend so much on a device.

I'd start them out with an eGo twist or Vision spinner and a protank. VV with a very easy to use tank system. The form factor is not as alien as a big box and the cost won't give them sticker shock. Let them cut their teeth on that and then progress them on to REOs later when they're ready to spend more to upgrade.

Actually, it's the only thing I would recommend. I say this with full conviction because with all the other things I had, they didn't stop me from smoking. I often became so frustrated at the other "equipment" that in between breaks of fixing things and adjusting, I would smoke a cigarette. Now of course I know everyone can't afford them, but there's something about being older than 50 that changes your life. Ask your friends to answer this question "If you can't afford to buy the right thing the first time, where the hell are you going to get the money to buy the wrong thing many times and then finally buy the right thing"? I've taken huge loses and will take more selling things that I didn't need or didn't work, only to find that if I would have gotten what I needed the first time, I would have spent less; much less. I did not have the fortune of a friend telling me about REOs, I actually read about them, dare I say, on the ECF Provari section. A individual stated how much he loved bottom feeders, so I began reading. So my previous decisions were based on hype and perceptions by other people. Sure the same could have been said about my first reading from this site, but something was different. Te REO appeared to be a minimal device (which I love). Everything was self contained, and a solid fluid delivery system was obvious. Anyway in regards to your friends; suggest a REO, and if they can't purchase, suggest EGOs and nothing else until they can save money and buy a REO.

This is were I'm exactly at. Vaping with an eGo and I'm not buying anything but the bare essentials needed to get by until I get a REO. My #1 goal is to not let vaping outpace the stinkies in the financial department and so far I'm doing great! It'll only get better once I have a nice setup with a Mini 2.1 and RBA!

There are lots of great mods out there.

I'm ashamed at all of you. Even Karen missed it! These people are at a pool! If I was near water, I'd for sure have the reo that day. I'd cape it in the pool. I actually have had my reo in the hot tub.

I didn't miss that they were spending time at a pool. I just didn't give it any influence in my decision. They are not going to be in or at the pool all the time! LOL

The optimal thing would be to keep a couple full set-ups to loan out. REO, batteries, charger, cartos and juice. You could even charge a use fee. Give them a couple weeks to try it. If they decide to purchase they can buy the used loaner or use it till there new stuff arrives.

I know some Reonauts have loaned out REO's and it has worked out great.

ForeverTwoWheels, I have the same challenge. When I go out on vape-breaks many of the people out there smoking do not have a couple hundred to drop on a REO as a starter. Even some of the people that can afford it look at me like I'm crazy when I tell them what some of my stuff costs. It's hard to loose sight that for many of us this is a hobby/passion and not every vaper is like that. When it comes to giving some one vape gear recommendations, there is only one thing on my mind:

How can I help them get off analogs?

Reo or not, if they are off analogs, it's a win! It is what vaping is all about and everything else is icing on the cake.

Even so, I think it would be better if they got started with something very simple and something that looks/feels like an analog. I think this makes a good transition into finding out what "vaping" is about. Quality of vape comes later, quick for some longer for others. Some people don't go past an ego style.

I tell them right out of the box the Reo is one of the best but but there are other good ones and some good ones at lower prices to try before you spend them money on something fancy. It might be enough.

Here is and example of what I think is a good starter kit -- $20 shipped. They just need some e-liquid to go with it. 2 900mah ego's, 2 evods, charger, case. Can get similar packages other places as well.

$20.13 EGO-EVOD 6-in-1 Rechargeable 900mAh Electronic Cigarettes Set - double e-cigarette / red + blue / 2.6.

Then if they like -- talk Reo's.

Now, if they have the ability to go Reo right away and are willing - I think its an excellent choice,

I read the EXACT same post -- that's what started my quest. I went from a Provari Mini to my REO Grand. We owe that person who mentioned "he loved bottom feeders" a big thank-you. I have no clue who it was, though.

We all know that there's a huge difference between performance of an eGo set-up vs a Reo. But an ego/clearomizer is affordable, easy to use, low maintenence, & works plenty good enough to see if vaping is going to work for a person to quit stinkies. Even the anemic cig-a-likes are doing that for a lot of ppl who WANT to quit smoking. If one doesn't have the desire or determination I don't think ANY device is gonna do it for them. And (unless $$ is no object) an eGo/clearo is a fine place to start.

I had only tried cheap e-cigs before and suffered 20 years smoking without any success getting off. Met a gent in Florida (Ray), bought the next day and have been cig free for 6 days. Washed my unit and changed the cartomizer today. Was a 1 POD smoker, but am only going through 2ml of 24mg juice per day. LOVE my REO Grand.

As I ONLY use a REOSMODs vape, I'm recommending it to ALL of my friends. Works like a charm and looks cool as hell!

Thanks Robert!

Yes maam. I didn't think you liked it da piggy? I started smoking way before I was grown. I was 12 YO & a pack was the same price as a school lunch. And I could buy em anywhere I pleased back then. I'm so glad they changed that.

I liked piggy. Cigs were 50 cents per pack when I started. I was in NYC the other day -- $13.00 a pack. Can you amagine?!
