Wouldn't it Be Nice - Everclear (PGA)

Sent this to a eliquid supplier:


It would be great if an eliquid suppler would stock Everclear 190%. The on-line liquor stores sell it in 750ml bottles. That’s way too much liquid.
If only it was in 60ml or smaller bottles. Us DIY’s only need a few drops. And it would be convenient when buying DIY supplies to purchase the PGA at the same time and would avoid hunting it down and an additional shipping fee.
Is there a liquor license issue? (I knew there would be)

[FONT="]Yes, licensing and shipping issues I am afraid. The items we get from PA are able to ship with the PGA in them as its not sold as alcohol but a flavoring so they are akin to cough syrup within the licensing laws. Our State's liquor store has an area with small flask sized bottles, you may want to ask if they carry them. Half Pint sized are also available.[/FONT]

There might be an issue with 95% being illegal in some states, namely California, Florida, Hawaii, Iowa, Maine, Massachusetts, Michigan, Minnesota, Nevada, New Hampshire, New York, Ohio, Virginia, and Washington.

I live in Florida. But, the state line is only 66 miles away. Not a problem for me to pick some up now and then.

And big bottle isn't a issue really... you'd be surprised how much you use for cleaning/mixing etc. Not to mention it doesn't go bad so you'll have it when you need it.

Yes, it would appear we both live in LA (Lower Alabama). I travel north to Dothan though.

That's probably true, even though vodka doesn't usually go much higher than 50-60%, the balance is water and it should do just fine for cleaning, I would think. But, for mixing I'd prefer the 190 Proof. FWIW, 151 Proof Everclear is legally sold in Florida and some of the other states which prohibit 190 Proof.

I don't use PGA for cleaning though, I use 99% Isopropyl when I use alcohol for cleaning.

Oh, I use Everclear for cleaning-- I love the smell, it's like having a party in my sinuses!

Okay, glad I bought the 750ml size. It is great for cleaning parts. Tried to buy it in several liquor stores around where my office is in NYC and near my home in S.I. with no luck. Hopped over the bridge to N.J., less than 10 min away and had no problem finding it in 190% proof. Paid about $19.

Wow, a lot of you use Everclear for cleaning! I might consider it (but would likely rule it out), if I didn't have access to 99% Isopropyl essentially at no cost ... while Everclear 95% PGA costs me around 2¢ per ml. That doesn't seem like much, but it takes a bit to do the cleaning ... maybe a dollars worth? In my view, no point in that when I've got the isopropyl. Everclear is for mixing ... and spiking drinks and various fruit, LOL.
