This is the best ecig segment I ever watched. The only glitch is, which I never heard of, at the very end:
"None of these products are recommended for a long term use"

It's like asking a coffee drinker to switch to decaff, which still has some caffeine in it, but only for a month or two and then totally quit drinking any kind of coffee.

It was a halfway decent segment. I don't know how we could conduct studies, and who actually funds and conducts studies, but one really does need to be done to shut the FDA down.
Another note--- that safe cig looks like the health-e cig I bought from china... for 11 bucks ... 100 bucks for a starter kit??? This is why they need some sort of regulation. Everyone on this forum knows that you can buy e-cigs cheaper than 100 bucks for a kit.

That's a true statement. And one of the problems e-cigs have is that they NOT short-term products to quit smoking. As an "alternative," they can be used forever. And there is not another approved nicotine product with that premise behind it.

We are wanting to make recreational use of nicotine, as caffeine is used in energy drinks. No limits. That's a stumbling block for many people.

Good piece, though. Nicely done for a local station, where we're used to getting all kinds of misinformation.

And the reason this is a stumbling block is our only recreational useage of nicotine, to date, has been tobacco - with all its health risks intact. Nicotine has a bad image by association with it's primary delivery device. But....realistically, recreational nicotine usage is as old - and older - then our US, itself.

It's a perception problem, a tarnished image, which we need to change.

What states/cities have these mall kiosks? I live in Cincinnati Ohio and I haven't seen these...then again I haven't been to the mall in a while...

I honestly don't know. I first found out about e-cigs a few weeks ago while I was in Jacksonville FL on vacation. I called every mall in the area to see if there was a kiosk where I could actually try one of these (with no real intention to buy it until I did further research). Not one of the malls seemed to have an e-cig kiosk.

Isn't that Johnathan guy from Safe Cig the same idiot who put up the billboards challenging Obama to quit smoking?

None other than our beloved member, with alias' like: "Its a no brainer" "thesafecig", and many many more.

Wonder what ever happened to the no-brained billboard .. ?

Obviously $100.00 for a starter kit is pricey but we do not need government regulating price! That is the last thing we need, is the government telling us how to run our businesses. Consumers have a responsibility to educate themselves before making a purchase.

I think it's suppliers like you that have put e-cigs on the radar of the FDA by making health and cessation claims. I think it was the responsibility of you and other suppliers to market these properly in the first place. ...But it's a little too late for that. ...Isn't it Jon???

So true. It's also true that there are people using FDA approved NRT as a long term source of nicotine. LOL, we just get to enjoy it.

I agree, and would say it was well done without qualifying as a local station, in that it was without the bias we see so much of, even from the national stations.
