Hey guys, new member here.

Ive always seen these 'e cigarettes' in commercials and occasionally in malls, small stores whatnot....i dont even remember where ive seen them exactly, because Ive always thought it was a gimmick and just dismissed it as a scam. I just couldnt get my head around getting a nic fix through something that wasnt burning tobacco, so i really never paid much attention to it until recently. For giggles, i ordered some e cigarettes from deal extreme (which i now regret) and while searching for reviews, after a very impulsive purchase, i came across this forum. Wow.
Ive seen people vape for ... content but i had no idea there was such a market for cigarette smokers. Ive been a smoker for 13 years, ive tried quitting twice but just cant get passed the physical need to put something to my mouth and inhale. This seems like such a great way to alleviate that urge while avoiding the toxic chems.

Anyway, after doing some reading (and i know i have a lot more to do) i think I want an eGo twist 1100mah. But i would like some help on a delivery system. A cartomizer seems like a decent entry level choice but i feel i will grow out of it very quickly.....Im leaning towards a tank type system, but i have no idea where to start. Like, how do i know what fits what? Is there a standard size besides the different threads? Also the ViVi nova seems very popular....but do these things fit on any battery? If i decide to buy another battery for back-up or travel, do i need a new delivery system?

Thanks for the help!
Looking forward to being a part of the community!

first: congratulations for taking the leap.

as far as devices go, the connection on ego's is a 510 connection, which is the most widely used one and it will take vivi novas, protank 1,2 and minis, evods, davide etc. anything with a 510 connection.
i'd recommend maybe a protank 2 or protank mini. the novas have a plastic tube and some juices can crack them, same with the evods.
the protanks are glass/pyrex so they are resistant to cracking juices, just dont drop them.
i started off with cartos and i found the continuous refill tedious and with some juices i could taste filler material.

either way you decide to go, you will learn a whole lot of things on your own so just have some fun with it.

Hi and Welcome to ECF...

Most of ecigs uses what is called a 510 connection... It is just thread specification.

Another thing that is very popular is what is known as eGo Cone threadings.

An eGo like battery have both sets of threads. The egos can accept anything that uses only 510, or only cone threading, or both at the same time.

However, a lot of other devices will not accept ego cone threadings, only 510.

If you buy your ego twist, the evod tank, mini or full protank , aspire mini or full are all decent starter clearomizers.

awesome. Thanks for the clarification.
Ive never seen one of these things in person, so i have no clue how they work. Are the battery and clearo/carto the only components? Do the clearo/carto/tanks come with tips to physically inhale from?
I know there are kits, that set you up with everything you need to start vaping, but Ive purchased intro kits for various other hobbies and i know everything that comes in those kits, get old fast and you find yourself wanting something better quickly. So to avoid this, id rather purchase a great setup first, as opposed to a good setup that ill end up upgrading in a few weeks.

I smoked for 27 years and was able to quite without any problems once I started to vape. Do yourself a favor and do more reading and research before buying your first starter kit. There is a lot to chose from and most will work, but all are not created the same. Make an informed decision and find what will satisfy your needs, and what looks good for you first, and you can possibly by pass the upgrade trend. Well one can hope. lol A regulated device would be the best place to start from, something with adjustable settings so as to dial in the performance of your atomizer of choice. Then when you want to try a different atomizer, you can adjust your vaporizer.

Welcome and good luck. Quitting smokes has never been so easy as it is now with using vape.

A really decent atomizer to start out with would be the Aspire BDC. Good price and great vape.

This is the best deal on a starter kit that I have seen: Smok Tech 900mAh eGo RBC Starter Kit

I would get 2 if it were me or the kit plus an eGo-C Twist/Winder/Spinner and a couple other types of clearomizers like iClear 16, Vivi Nova, EVOD or get a pyrex/glass one for tank cracker juices--cinnamon, citrus, cola & some others. If you want to try cartomizers, add a couple of those, too. Cartomizers are my backup for my backup.

Hello and welcome!
You are going to receive a ton of friendly info here. I have a Vision Spinner battery. It adjusts from 3.3 to 4.8 volts. There's a lot of discussion here as to which one is better the twist or the Spinner. I love my Spinners. Either way....variable voltage is the way to go. I've found it definitely brings out some flavors playing around with the voltage, and depending what ratio of VG/PG is in your ejuice, the resistance of your atomizer, the amount of nicotine you want, etc. Don't quote me on all of this tho...I'm still learning too, lol!
They should be called Smart-Cigarettes. There is so much fun you can have with them if you are even the least little bit of an electronic tinkerer.
The main thing is this will help you cut the stinkies out of your life for good! Come back to this forum often. Read all the advice. Then read it again. There is a lot to absorb! This is a great way to get your nicotine without getting all the other crap. You are so correct! Congrats on finding us!

Hello and welcome. Since you are here, you will most likely be changing gear out frequently in the beginning. You have two paths. One, get a decent variable voltage starter kit, topped with something like an evod, protank or aspire. This is a great way to learn how to vape. There is a learning curve that smoking doesn't have.

The other way is to buy a higher ended AVP (adjustable personal vaporizer) and atomizer (carto, RBA or RDA) and learn on that. Not the way to go, IMHO. There are too many different skills to learn at the same time. Take it slower, get your experience, do research and decide how YOU like to vape. There is fascinating new gear coming out all the time. The more experience you get, the less money that you will 'waste' on gear that you don't enjoy. Good luck and have fun!

I use an e-cig when I go out in public instead of my normal cigar, but I have discovered something interesting. More people glare at me when I smoke the e-cigarette than when I light up a real cigar. I think they equate the e-cig to a cigarette. I asked a non-smoking friend what he thought. He hates cigarettes, cigars, pipes, and e-cigs with the same passion, so I am sure he would be one of the complainers if he caught you vaping and blowing clouds indoors. Until I enlightened him that e-cigs have no tobacco, he just assumed it was an alternative way to get your fix of tobacco while trying to circumvent the non-smoking laws.

My wife prefers the vaping "cloud" to my cigars, but that is because she is educated on the difference in the smoke.

The Twit variable volt or a vision spinner is a good place to start. There are cheaper clones but you would be taking more of risk. I would also recommend the vision vivi nova because they have worked well and have been trouble free for me. They come in two sizes, I prefer the minis. The glass ones are called Vision VFATE and also come in two sizes. Though not many stores have the smaller ones yet.

I've been vaping for 15 months after 40 years of smoking. I started with simple cartomizers which work fine for a few months...then I started trying other stuff. It seems that there are new items coming out all the time. The "thing" that was new and shiny 6 months ago is "old hat" now...and I never got around to trying it.

Anyway, my current favorites are T2 top coil clearomizers and eVOD bottom coil clearomizers. Both are simple to use and relatively cheap. That's my 2 cents. Everyone will have their own opinion...pretty soon you will be on here telling someone else what's the "best".

I dont think ive ever been part of such an active forum! Your responses are awesome!
Heres the deal.....
I bought an ego t starter kit today at my local smoke shop. Lol.
When I have my mind made up and I want something, I want it now and I cant wait for online orders to ship. Anyway along with the kit I bought a small pack of smokes. Its still unsealed and ive clearly got my fix from the ego t. Because its new and so cool I have that feeling you get whwn you have too many cigarettes, lol.
Well just wanted to let u guys know that. All my research had been done on an ego twist so really its not that far off. I think ill eventually get the twist but like I stated earlier I have alot of reading to do.
Im having a big dinner right now so I will update on getting my nic fix after a meal via the ego t.
The real test will be this weekend when I drink......heavily.
