I've been away from vaping for a while now. I had gotten fed up with fiddling with hardware, juice recipes that change without notice, etc. I recently quit analogs again. After a couple of miserable days of withdrawal I broke out my old 510 and some ancient juice. I had forgotten how satisfying vaping could be.

I started researching to see what had happened in vaping tech since I was gone from the scene. I was looking for something that would provide me with a "cigarette like" experience. As in I've never had a incidence of where a cigarette just "wouldn't work." As awful as they are they are very consistent performing nicotine delivery systems. In my research I came across many people praising the Volt, both it's batteries and cartos. I've never used an 808 or a carto, but the video reviews with the impressive clouds of vapor coming from such a little device had me intrigued to say the least. I just had to try it out.

My kit arrived today. I am very impressed. Got a regular sealed auto and a 78mm manual with some ry4 carts and a bottle of ry4. It's all I can do to not sit here and chain vape. Great hardware so far, and the juice is exactly what I expected from a ry4. If the hardware stays consistent I can safely say I will be a customer for a long time.
Thanks to the folks over at Smokeless Image for getting my order out to me quickly and accurately. Looks like it's time to place the follow up order :)

Just one note: The LED on my manual is very very dim. Can't see it at all in room light. It's supposed to be purple like the auto, but it is a very weak blue. The battery itself seems to work fine, it's just hard to tell when it's done charging as you can't see at a glance if it's lit or not.

Yeah, I had the same reaction with the dim purple LED. Some people have said though that their purple is just as bright as the red and blue LEDs. Since it's still within the 30-day return period, you can probably opt to contact SI customer service and get it swapped out if you want to. You'd probably have to pay for return shipping though...
...I've always felt that that batt was a little wimpier than the others, but I think it was just psychosomatic, seeing the wimpy LED...

Welcome Zap! It's great to hear you're loving the Volt. I've been using them since the beginning of this past summer and can't imagine ever changing to something else.

I have a black 65mm sealed auto which has a dim purple led. On the other hand I have two other batts with purple leds and they're really bright. I mean, REALLY bright. The only problem with the dim one is just what you said, telling if it's charged. I have to cup my hand over it to make it really dark in order to tell. But I figure it will be able to serve as a stealth batt, since the 'light' from the led can be easily hidden. lol If it is a real pain for you I'm sure customer service would help you out by exchanging it.

The LED on my auto is purple and very bright. I don't really care about the LED itself...what I really care about is the battery performance. I haven't noticed any real performance difference with that particular battery but I have only had it for one day. I have been hitting this thing pretty hard all day since I got it. I have to admit the auto battery has really impressed me. I had never used one before. It works very well. I'm glad I got a manual as well though so I can do tasting drips on my 901 atomizers before committing to filling a cart with an untested flavor. Now just to wait for my follow up order...time to stalk the letter carrier again lol.

How long do these carts maintain decent performance if you refill? Probably on my third refill or so today. I don't actually let it get dry...every couple of hours or so I top it off. Loving it.

Welcome Zap. I started with the 510 also. Used it for about 8 months and was ready to chuck the whole idea. Was thrilled to discover the 808's and even happier when I found the Volt. Less issues all the way around. The carto's usually last me 2 to 3 weeks before I think they are done for. Since they last that long I throw them out instead of cleaning now. It's great.

Depends on the juice. I've had some that crudded it up almost immediately. But they typically last quite a bit longer than other cartos I've used.

I'm not one to worry too much about warranties myself...I just like to make sure something is in good working order before I void it...hell my phone's warranty didn't last 4 hours. Just had to root it. I'd like to see a tut as well. Not that I'd act on it right away, or on new stuff, but it would be good info for the future and appreciated.
I realized I didn't have a good way to wrangle this thing while driving so I cobbled together a makeshift lanyard with stuff I had laying on my desk. It should work well enough until I find or make a better one...

volt lanyard.jpg

I used an old cell phone lanyard plus a part of a carto condom. The carto condom acts as sort of a brake to keep it from slipping. It's very secure as long as there's tension on it...but I still wouldn't wear it walking around outside. Anyone know of a decent reasonably priced lanyard for a pv like this?

I think Adrena makes these. You might try asking her.
Check out post #10 here.

Thanks Cindy, if I can't make something here I'll definitely look into those.

Just got my follow up order, thanks for the fast and accurate service again. Right now I'm checking out the sweet sampler. So far I've only had one cart that has developed a burnt taste...it was my second ry4. After that I started checking all carts for resistance and juice level before vaping. I didn't check the juice in the ry4 cart before vaping it, but the burnt taste came on pretty quick. This particular cart has a bit lower resistance than the others I have checked, coming in at around 2.5 ohms as opposed to the 2.8 or so for the rest I have tested.
Something else I noticed was that juice seems to settle in the cart during storage. I was able to see this clearly with the chocolate in the sweet sampler pack. One half of the batting is soaked and darker than the rest. It looks as if the cart lay on its side for a while and the juice settled to one side.
My guess as to what happened with this cart is a combination of slightly lower resistance, a fresh off the charger battery and unevenly distributed fluid resulted in something getting burnt onto the coil. That's only a guess but seems to make sense to me.
Does anyone do anything special with prefills when they get them to ensure that the juice is distributed evenly throughout the batting? I've been giving mine a gentle "thermometer shake" before using to make sure the juice is where it needs to be from the beginning.

Hi, I always give them a little top up with juice, that is a bit difficult if you don't have the juice yet.

The last batch of prefilleds that I ordered were like that also. All of my previous ones weren't.
I just topped them off and let sit for a bit, it took about 6 drops.

Thanks for the feedback folks. It's interesting that only your latest batch has come like this crbrown. I'm completely new to cartos, so I have no idea if this is a common thing. Although I have to say these are really getting me out of the dripping habit. Well except for topping off lol. I'll have to keep an eye on each as I open them for use.

I've been doing the top off on the ry4 carts before use, as it is the only juice I have that matches right now. So far the samplers haven't burned at all luckily. I like the one's I've tried...but not a fan of the chocolate. I don't think you can really translate that to a vapor flavor. I haven't tried the cherry yet. I think I may use ry4 in the vanilla when it gets low...I think it will mix well.
