As a footnote, I should add that last week's posting [there is a link to his previous post on the subject, near the top of his current post] produced quite a number of e-mails from around the country from those contending I'm a complete idiot because e-cigs are safe and actually help smokers give up tobacco. So guess what Obama is a legal resident of the USA. Get over it....and no... the health plan is not to kill old people its actually going to help old people more. Health care cost will be doubled in 10 years if we dont act now....only half of the people in the US will be lucky to afford health care in 20 years.....do the math folks....compare the last 20 years to now and then do the math for the next 20 years. I'm not sure who this comment is directed toward -- hopefully not me, and it wouldn't do any good to direct it at Bates. He's using sarcasm to call vapers "dumb as a bag of birthers" (quoting a local St. Pete Times columnist). He is clearly neither a birther nor a deather.

His two (at least) posts on the subject of e-cigs are so insane, you can practically see the froth around his mouth. I posted just 3 examples of how far he takes it, and that was my point -- not to bring the current brain-dead debates to this forum. I'm just saying, you wanna have at him, he's quite literally asking for it -- so go forth and edumacate, but you might wanna recalibrate your sarcasm detector first.

Everything our government touches turns to ..... You want a good look at what Obooboo's health care will look like? Take a walk through a VA hospital some time. Or better yet, talk to a disabled veteran and ask them how well our government is taking care of them. Our own government can't even properly take care of those wounded in battle trying to defend our beloved country. How in the hell do you think government provided health care is going to work out for the other 307 Million of us?

There are hundreds of ways we can bring the cost of health care down in this country. We need to start picking away at those rather than letting the government take care of everything. This country was not founded on the idea of government regulating and controlling every god**** thing we have and do! That's not liberty. That's not freedom. It's a socialistic nanny state! You want government provided health care? Move to Canada for a couple years and tell me how it works out for you.

Edit: And I've got news for you; At the rate the Federal Reserve is creating currency, we'll all be lucky if the prices of everything only double in the next ten years. Get a clue!

Dont even go there about the VA, because Im a vet and I cant afford health insurance. Thank god for the VA or I would have been 7,000 dollars in debt just in health care cost. They took care of me and it cost me barely anything. And they do take care of those who lose arms or legs...they give 25,000 dollar movable joint legs and arms plus disability. There would be 10-20 times more deaths if it wasn't for the VA. Yes those who have PDSD may have trouble getting disability money but the VA will help them for free with any counseling or medications. There are a lot of soulders on disability now. And there given anywhere from 25 percent to 100 percent coverage just for PDSD alone.

I do not think Bates can be dismissed as a lonely troll. Answering my own initial question belatedly (thanks, Google, who knew I'd need to answer my own frackin' rhetorical question?), Bates has won a Pulitzer and has been an associate editor with the Oregonian, that state's largest newspaper, for 16 years. And Oregon figures prominently in the latest e-cig skirmishes.

Currently there is one comment to the guy's 2nd post on this subject and it's mine. I thought some other people might want to join in. That's it. If this gets too nuts, I'll plead with a mod to delete the thread in the interest of unity at THIS forum for THIS purpose.

Can we try to keep this on the topic, which was intended to be e-cigs and some of the insane comments being made in the MSM about them? That's stuff we ought to be paying attention to now. The intert00bs are big and we've all got places to rail about our other issues.
