I learn something new every day with vaping, I swear. I was cleaning a coil for my Triton, and before I pulled the wicks out to clean I realized that the bottom wick actually goes through the coil. It doesn't rest on top. For a month now I have been pulling them out, cleaning them, and resting them both back on top of the coil. Just kind of a crazy moment for me. Is it ok to rest them both on top? Or is it a better idea to only pull it part of the way out and clean so that it can stay in the coil?

If it works, then fine. But I bet it doesn't, or doesn't work near as good as normally threaded.
Your last sentence has the answer. Pull it over a half inch, clean, then back. And you don't have to put it back in the same place. If it's off center, who cares?
You can try a bit of teflon tape like plumbers use. Put a bit on the end of the wick, twist it fine, and thread it through.
If you have the shakes, or poor eyesight, just buy new coils. I have not tried to rethread wick into coil.
And there is a thread in the Halo section about coils, or rebuilding coils.
So, one through the coil, the other on top, and that gives the velvet thick vape we love.

Not really. I'm just curious as to whether this would affect the life of the coil or vapor production. Honestly it's all been such a great blur lol. And I've only had one coil burn out. I guess it doesn't really matter? Just noticed and thought it was interesting ;p
I would think so, also. The coil around a wet wick has a lot of it's surface touching juice, and makes the vapor. With only the top touching, I would think there'd be less in contact with juice, and make less vape. I mean, Halo and Kangar and the others do a lot of testing. If laying it on top was better, they would have. Just my 2 cents.

Some people build those micro mini nano coils and have to surround them with wick - but they're usually RDAs and vapor production/taste are different anyway. I build a pretty small coil on an RBA (less than 1/16th) and I can still thread cotton through it (from a cotton ball).
With a Halo coil I'm almost sure you'll get better flavor/vapor with the wick inside the coil, but if you've already taken it out it would be a pain to get back in.

I'm actually going to start threading it back through with some Teflon tape as suggested. I am a maintenance tech so I have plenty ;p I was getting plenty of vapor with the wick on top, but it's not the right way to do it. I'm sure placing it back where it belongs will prevent any problems that may arise. I'm learning!

It needs to wrap around the bottom wick, exposing the surface area of ejuice to heat, producing a delicious cloud of vapor.
Wait until the wicks are dry before yanking them, they are much looser and easier to "spot clean".
I pull out the top flavor wick to the right just enough to expose the black burnt spot, and pull the bottom wick out to the left evenly. Then I soak a napkin or paper towel with vodka or PGA, and "rub" the black spot. Roll it between your fingers. This leaves black burn deposits on the paper, which is what tends to gunk up and darken the e-juice. Repeat until no more comes off, let dry, leave the wicks in that position so that the coil is making contact with a "fresh" unburnt part of the wick.
If you accidentally pull out the bottom wick, you don't need special tape to re-thread the needle. Regular scotch tape works if you use a tiny sliver on the end and roll it into a point.
You can only spot clean wicks so many times before they start to fray and fall apart... and even then, there's nothing like a fresh coil. They are $2.50 a pop after all.

No way - not going to fiddle with taking the thing apart - building it on an RDA is easy because you don't have to take anything apart LOL I just buy Triton coils 
So now, after 5 days, QuickLazer, did you fix the coils? Is it better?
Certainly did, much better
I use my sample juice tin to store parts. Took spare coils and wicks out, re-threaded using telfon (worked like a charm). The vapor produced before wasn't terrible, but is much heavier now for sure.

its really not that difficult once you get the hang of it...using ribbon wire instead of round wire makes a huge difference!
that is definately true. its something i kinda take for granted at times.
you never know unless you try! halo coils are good, but I personally prefer the ones i rebuild because they just seem to give better vapor, but its an art that is not for everybody for sure!
