I'm assuming your 1300 is an auto? If so, I had the same problem with several auto 650s. Turned out the internal vacuum switch was defective and wouldn't activate unless the endcap was removed. With the endcap in place, not enough air flowed to activate the switch. IIR, I ended up sending them all back to SI for exchange. Contact CS, Heather will take good care of you.

Yeah, I understand your dilemma. I'd contact CS and explain your logistics situation and perhaps they might waive return of the defectives. Especially if they're still within the warranty period. It's worth a shot anyway.

not sure I can send them back ....I don't think aussie post will...with all these lithium battery stories

I had an auto do something simular. It had a very tight draw with the cap on. If you look closely around the end where the cap screws on you will see 2 small grooves around the base. I just screwed the cap on & marked the spots where the grooves are , then carefully filed a little groove in the cap at the same place. This loosened up the draw & it works frine now after 6 months.

I also had this problem with a 650 X2. SI sent me a new one without sending the defective one back, they knew immediately what was wrong. Seems the placement inside the battery tube was incorrect, no air flow unless air could get in through the usb hole, which meant only when the cap was off.

I really think that the Chinese manufacturers are all over quality control until they get the big contracts for lots of pieces, then BAM, let's see how we can cut costs down and shave parts, etc, etc. Then SI (and others too) are stuck getting lower quality equipment. Bait and switch. I have even noticed a slight difference in the base of the cartos from the ones I purchased in the spring. Sigh....

+1 on bad QC. They lure us in with a product that works pretty good, and then lower the quality so we’ll buy the next new product they come out with. I’d be willing to pay twice as much for a good quality American Made product.

Don't get me wrong, I'm not blaming SI or any other brand. They are getting hit with the QC issues as much as we are. The vendors are the ones sending out the replacements, paying for extra pieces when we report the issues.

I was talking about the manufacturers in China. The vendors here want to sell as good a product as possible.

It has to be extremely frustrating for you to first have to wait soo long before you get your order only to find that the hardware is not working like it should. That's got to be hard to deal with. There was a good suggestion given to you to ask SI to thoroughly check the battery before shipping it to you. You are spending BIG BUCKS!!! :)

This is why I decided to use eGo style manual batteries instead of autos. From SI I got a 650, 900, and 1300? (I think those are their three sizes). All still work flawlessly, and have taken quite a beating, too. I have also bought about 12 or so cig styles from them. Three have died, but they were over a year old, so no big deal.

I've always found SI's batteries to be very reliable, hopefully 'new' batteries aren't less quality?

You guys should give both ends of the battery a good cleaning, maybe there is just enough buildup to mess with the draw, and possibly on the carto side.

Sucks to get faulty gear, but at least SI is great at their service with them.

there have been no changes to design or quality sometimes the tiny air holes may not be correctly punched by the machining... something we cannot really detect in quality control...as they test battery function and not necessarily air flow...as they are expected to be machined correctly...that being said CS will do all they can especially for our international customers as we know it is more of an inconvenience ...

have you put in a ticket yet?
