The batteries tend to run extra hot when they're brand new, be careful to not blow out an atomizer. Otherwise, when the cap is on tight, the effective voltage is around 5V versus 6V when the bottom cap is loosened. It's a good idea to call Drew if you have any questions.

Glad you're enjoying it.

I just got my xhaler last week...using the 510 or 901 adapter it tasted burnt to me too..maybe batteries little strong in the beginning i heard..then I tried the kr808d-1 cartomizer...all i can say is WOW...warm clouds of great tasting vapor on the xhaler..its perfect throat hit and perfect everything..Plus no fuss with dripping and fiddling...new cartomizer will last me an hour or two of vaping..then Ill drip 5-6 drops on the battery end (of cartomizer) and ill get another 15 min compared to 2-3 drops on a 510 for 5 pulls!...I'm sure Ill try my 510 or 901 adapters after batteries break in but honestly I dont think I will want to..cartomizers work great with it...give it a try if you havent yet...

I exclusively use cartomizers on my Xhaler and my SB. Like flexsr, I generally put in 6 drops into the battery end of the cartomizers and take between 10-20 drags (at 5-6 volts). Cartomizers work great on high voltage devices; just make sure you keep the cartomizers very moist (by adding drops BEFORE you get the burnt taste—you will know what this point is after a bit of experience). I cannot remember if the Xhaler came with the cartomizer adaptor or if you had to order it separately for a nominal cost. As for the cartomizers, I always buy empty ones and fill them with my own juice.

If my xhaler is 501 how do I connect a cartomizer and what cartomizer should I buy? Does it matter if I'm at 5-6v?

Xhalers come standard with a 901 and an 801 tip. Drew sells a 901 to cartomizer adapter on his site, or you can buy one elsewhere.

Unless things have changed substantially, the 510 isn't a tip, but, rather, is an adapter that fits on the 801 tip, if memory serves. Thus, if you're using the Xhaler with a 510, you should still have two tips--one for the 801 and one for the 901, and those are what you should try to get a cartomizer adapter for.

That is correct, JustJulie. The cartomizers will actually fit directly on the 901 tip, but there's no airflow so only cartos that have a built-in airhole like the 901 atty will work unless you get the cartomizer adapter. I got it a few days ago, and I'm loving the GreenCig cartos and looking forward to trying some KR8's.

5V/6V can be a little too high on cartos on freshly charged batteries. I believe the cartomizers use a single wire coil heating element compared to the 3 piece atomizers that have a wire mesh element. Once my Xhaler's batteries have been used a little bit, the carto starts to taste a little better, IMO.

Hi Julie, pls let me get this clarified. My xhaler comes with an 801 stock? And as I requested 501, drew adds a little adaptor? Where does 901 fit into the picture?

You get both an 801 and a 901 brass tip with the Xhaler. Adapters to use a 510 and/or Kr8/GC cartomizer on the 901 tip are optional. $99 you can get an Xhaler and tips/adapters for all of the major atomizers and cartomizers. (Save 10% with the coupon code, tho!)

I dont have any problems with air flow like thulium..I tightened the cartomizer on one of the brass tips that came with the xhaler then I back it off half a turn and its fine for me....by reading the posts I see there alot of different suggestions etc..that what forum about..experiment and see what you like...drew is pretty accessible if you still have questions or cocerns...
