Does anyone have any experience or info on these batteries? xtar is a reputable brand and the price is half of the new aw imr 14500 so that is appealing. xtar claims it's a 9A battery TIA

My :2c:. I haven't used an 14500 battery in a couple of years. However, if I was going to use any battery other than an 18650, I'd use only AW IMR's.

To the best of my knowledge, Xtar doesn't make their own batteries, but re-wraps cells made by other manufacturers. This is where things get murky. Who makes Xtar's cells? Can you trust the specifications advertised? Or are they more marketing hype than true specs? Is that "9 amps" advertised the continuous or pulse rating? That makes a huge difference.

AW's reputation is second to none. If anything, they will under-rate their battery specs than over-rate them. They already make the top IMR batteries in the 18350 and 18490/18500 size. My guess is they make the top 14500 IMR battery, too. AW's new 14500 IMR has 650 mah and 9 amps continuous discharge rate.

I'd like to see a first hand comparison of the new AW, MXJO, and Xtar batteries, too.
