Hi everyone! Been lurking for a couple weeks, registered a couple days ago, had to contact the mods but now I'm here. I've been smoking for 25 years, and I'm ready to give it up for good. I decided to try vaping. Without doing much research, I placed an order with VaporAll for their V-Perfecto kit with a clearomizer and some juice. I didn't care much for their juice. I'm big on natural/organic, so I found Velvet Cloud Vapors and placed and order. When my new juice arrived, I started cleaning my clearo and broke it! So, I ordered a few bottom coil clearos from VaporAll to try. Not liking them so much. Hits are inconsistent, and I often tasted plastic, and even a burning plastic taste at times. This led me to look for glass. Found glass tanks. Considered many, such as Vivi Nova, Protanks etc....but IBTanked is looking impressive, liking the carto-tank idea. Then this led me to other devices. Joyetech eGo Vic? Kanger? Many looked good, but I'm pretty much settled on a ProVari Mini, in Limited Edition Zombie of course! Love the high quality made in the USA part of it. I've already spent a fair amount of money on my eGo style equipment, so to get it right in one shot with the ProVari will not be a problem for me! I'll keep my VaporAll as a back up, and probably take it with when I go snowboarding.
I'm down to 2-5 cigs per day. I'm just not fully satisfied with the results I'm getting so far, so I'm thinking a better setup is going to settle it for me.
I've done a lot of reading on ECF so far, and there is a ton of useful information to be found. So I would like to thank everyone for providing such a great forum!

So, a couple questions please!

ProVari Mini with a IBTanked carto-tank, good idea? I'll probably get the starter kit that comes with the protank to start...

As for my VaporAll V-Perfecto (It's an eGo-C style), good for a back up PV? I might get some cartos for it to try that..

Lol you went all out ;). I don't own a Provari but from everything I've read I'm sure you'll be happy with it. Now you get to have fun trying all the juice until you find something you really enjoy, that was the funnest part for me! With a Provari, IBTanked (not sure if it works with a Provari, but if it does...) and the right juice, it might just be what it takes to bump those 2-5 cigs/day.

Good luck with everything and welcome :).

Hi Ru, welcome!

Search up member Baditude, and read his blogs on carto tanks for great tips on using them.

Too high a power level (or too low a resistance, leads to the same thing) can cause the burnt flavor. "Plasticy" flavor often comes from a juice that is eating away at the poly tube of the clearo, so if that's the case, pyrex would be the way to go, in either a clearo or carto tank setup.

I found that the nic level of the juice was the biggest factor in my success. Based on my smoking habit, the shop where I got my first kit started me at 18, and I still smoked now and then until I upped the nic level. So you may want to try something a little higher than what you have.

But if you do have a cig now and then, don't sweat it. As is said around here A LOT! :) - it's the one's you don't smoke!

Hey Dawg,

I thought your location sounded familiar. I was just out in Pottstown over the weekend and remembered seeing an exit for Sinking Spring. I'm on the other side of the state. IBTanked are nice. You might want to try just straight cartos first to get used to filling them properly and see how you like them before going for the whole tank system.

Hope your vaping is successful!!

Thank you so much! I do like the flavors from VCV so far, just feel like they can improved with better equipment.
The ProVari uses 510 cartos, which are also used by the IBT tanks.

Thank you! I have read some of Bad's posts already, I'll certainly give it a closer look.
I'm currently vaping 12mg juice, I was a no more than one pack a day guy.

Hi Subd, you must have been on 222 then! I like western PA. Might visit that part of the state this winter for some snowboarding, Somerset probably.
I'll try straight cartos then, thanks!

the Aspire BDC by Vivi Nova is a good tank to begin with. Also once you hit your groove, the best place to look for more vape is in rebuildable atomizers, rba's. or drippers. Carto's can be good too. It's mainly a matter of finding what works best for you and what fits your style and skill set. I prefer rba's. Like building my own coils, fine tuning them to each rba to get the most out of it, and cranking up the watts to max output. But that's me. I own a Provari, great regulated mod, and I also own a mechanical. I use both daily, but vape more juice on the mech.

The search for more got me to Provari, then adding rba's to the line up, then DIY juice, and now mechanicals and sub ohm builds. What's next? Hmm Quantum Core Warp Coils!! Well maybe Hemp fiber for wicks first. lmao

Have fun, good luck, Vape long and Prosper!!

Just a quick note, if you try out the cartos without a tank make sure you buy the ones without holes in the side. Those are for tanks so the juice can get into the carto.

Thanks Dice. The Aspire BDC is also on my list. I do like to tinker with things, but I don't have the time for it now, so I'm looking for the simplest but most effective setup. Down the road I may look into getting more involved like you are!

I am REALLY glad you said that, I was thinking I could just order extra cartos for the IBT to try by themselves, but now I realize that would create quite a mess outside of a tank!!! (blonde moment!!)

Sometimes it takes a while to quit entirely. For me it took 3 months of vaping to do so. Everyone is different.

A provari will help for sure. Same power from start to finish of battery is what it's best known for. Other mods like my vamo you can tell when the battery is getting low. I just replace it with a fresh battery in my case and off I go.

Those times of the day when you really crave a cig , try and vape at one of those times and get through it. After a week or so try another time of the day. Sooner than you think you're cig free. Those times for me were first thing in the morning - after a meal - sex - etc....

Just think that any reduction in smoking cigarettes is a win. And any way that works for you is the right way. Good luck!
