I was a Touch of Grey Head..

But I did get to see shows all over the country with a pretty blond girl in her VW van. I bought all the tickets before we left, sometimes we sold the tickets and just listended in the parking lot while we sold tie dyes. Not sure that I'd care to be 19 again, but I have lived that summer over and over again in my head.

Yeah, sounds like me as well. I had a '63' VW camper van, brunette GF, patchoulli, batik skirts, tie die and veggie sandwiches. Good times. :2cool:

And............A version of your original post song. From the mid '80's', the Dead were hitting their stride and peaking (or getting very near) in popularity.

YouTube - Grateful Dead - Ripple

Verrrry nice. This is one song that when it gets stuck in my head I don't ..... about it.

I have to admit I'm not really a Deadhead, but I did get a chance to see them play back in '89. All I can say is that Deadhead concerts are an experience. (I enjoyed myself very much.)

With the 1st video, that guy was really good, if he's been playing since he was 8 he should be I guess. I like the fact that someone who's been playing that long used a capo.

Yeah, I can tell it looks like him. Except I thought Phil was using an Alembic bass back then.

Thank you for asking! You made my day!
I'm a Phil 'o Phile and Jack 'o Phile as well as an Ox 'o Philiac ? ..and all 'round bassnut.

That Gibson EB-0 with the groovy detailed paint job was modified by Rick Turner and Ron Wickersham before Alembic started making their own line of instruments. I believe that The Bear (Owsley Stanley) had a hand in it as well.
It's the bass Phill used for the Skull and Roses (Skull F..ck) recording and subsequent tours
The posts I deleted featured photos of "The Godfather" The Guild Starfire hollow body bass heavily modified with active electronics by Alembic and used in the Europe '72 tour and recordings.
