Okay, it took me a while, but I've separated all of my old cartomizers into 3 categories:

category 1: DEAD - These are either burned out or are otherwise no longer producing vapor.

category 2: WEAK - These are not burned out, but they are not producing much vapor.

category 3: STRONG - These are still producing clouds of vapor.

I know that the DEAD ones are just that... DEAD! I am throwing those away. (I'll save the caps).

My question is this:

Should I save the WEAK ones to boil? Will that restore their ability to produce more vapor? Or should I just toss them as well?

IMO, I would throw away categories 1 & 2. When I first switched to cartos I saved them all. Now I'm less inclined to do so.

I usually run them through one cleaning cycle and most operate fairly well after. I'm starting to question that process as well. The carto cost vs effort cleaning has to be factored in. Some choose not to clean at all. It's a personal question we have to ask, "to clean or not to clean"...lol

I boiled some of my cartos and now they barely vape????? I thought it was something I should do with them...maintaince I guess. Now I'm thinking it wasn't a good idea. About how long will a carto last? I just started using them, so I'm just learning.

How did you dry them? Did you clear the air hole with a paperclip?

They will not work if there is water left in them. They look dry from the top but they are still wet. I set them (well blown out frist) in an empty Altoid tin bottom(any baking dish would do) with uncooked rice in it, battery connector side down (so now they are standing up) and put them in the oven at 225 for an hour. I just saw a post by some one who puts them in the oven for less time at a lower temp, which might be worth a try. I have also seen a hair dryer method posted.
