So, long time lurker, first time poster with yet another first buy question.

I'm looking to purchase an e-cig and currently have my eye on either a Sidesho or a Revolver, and I'm having a hard time deciding between the two.

I know there are plenty of other options and people are going to be popping in here and suggesting that I skip both and buy a huge carto chomping beast, or something that looks like it fell out the back of Tommy Chong's station wagon, but I've pretty much exhausted all other options over the last few days of research.

I know throat hit would be better with an X, more vapor production with a Y, larger carts/less refilling with a Z, etc, but as a fairly light smoker who only smoked menthol lights at a rate of a pack every 2/3 days I'm not looking for something that's gonna blow my head off every time I pull it out.

I also don't have much in the way of a nicotine need to worry about either, after smoking for 10 years or so it was always the act of smoking that I enjoyed rather than a physical craving, combined with idle hands and a bit of hyperactivity and it's a glorious combination.

So anyhoo, I've been scouring the forum and interwebs for the lact few days and have settled on either a Sidesho or a Revolver, both seem to fit the bill nicely, two full e-cigs, PCC charger/case, snazzy design, and more importantly for me with a desire to kick the habit of the smoking "act", they're both fairly close to analogs as far as size/looks go.

Where I hit a snag is in deciding which end of this narrow spectrum to go for.

The Revolver is appealing primarily due to the size, it's pretty damn close to a regular size analog, and from what I can gather it seems to perform pretty well for an e-cig of its size.

The Sidesho is a tad larger, but from what I can gather brings with it increases in performance to counter the size increase, and has much more in the way of snazzy colours to choose from.

I haven't really found much in the way of direct comparisons between the two, probably since they seem to occupy slightly different niches in the market, but I figure before I end up flipping a coin or something I may as well expose my dilemma to public scrutiny and see if anybody (hopefully) has any opinions/info on the matter.

HALP PLZ.

(Apologies for the wall of text, I'm quite prone to rambling, not that I need to tell you that at this point!)

Are your sure about your choices?

The first thing to realize is that vaping is not smoking. They are two different activities. Although similar, when you burn tobacco, you are getting nicotine into your system in about the most effective way that modern chemistry and millions of research dollars can produce. When you vape, you are ingesting a fine steam vapor that contains less nicotine (but healthier with a better flavor) than a similar drag on a cigarette. You should, at first, feel you need to vape more than you smoked for this reason. And you may need to supplement your vaping with smoking. Also for this reason, many people end up switching to a better unit because they find that their original assumptions were not quite right.

A good kit to buy can be found by clicking on the Forum Suppliers link at the top of every page here at ECF. For a beginner, many would recommend : http://store.vapor4life.com/

Sorry about not answering your question, but thought you should know.

Welcome stOned. Well you asked for advise so here's mine. Don't buy from a vender that gives an ecig a special brand name. That just means they're charging more for something you can get elsewhere for less. All ecigs are some model or another. Research the models and find a site with a reasonable price for that model. The 2 most popular models for starting up are the kr808D-1 and the 510 followed closely by the DSE 901. For the kr8. look here https://www.vaporkings.com/aboutus.asp for example. For the 510 look here Welcome to MadVapes LLC or here Cignot your Midwest Electronic Cigarette store. . For the 901 I'd go back here Welcome to MadVapes LLC. That's just my $0.02.

The revolver for your information is an M702. You can get it at almost $30 cheaper here. Liquids, cartridges and spares are also a whole lot cheaper. No color choices though. There is the fixed $15 shipping but if you stock up a bit, it will be very much worthwhile. Heck, its cheaper even if you get just one starter kit, which i doubt you will.

Cartridges are compatible with the M401/2/3. I've used the M702 before and its not a bad unit at all, considering its size. But i've outgrown it a little and am vaping the Maxx exclusively now.

Good advice. I would also like to add get a manual battery. Don't bother with auto batteries.

Hi Stoned (or do you prefer Penguin? lol)!

Might be a good idea to heed the above members w/ the experience and hence wisdom...they've been there, done that, and heard almost all.

Certain models are popular among members because they earned their keep. My first pv was an analog look-alike (bought it b4 I found ecf)...thought it looked cool, for a couple of days. Ordered a better unit based on reco's here. If you haven't yet, highly recommend reading these posts

I would say that very few members use an analog look-alike as their primary pv. Just adding my 2 nickels.

Welcome aboard Stoned!!

I don't know what those e-cigs are that you are talking about... are those like the ones at mall kiosks? Pardon my ignorance... just haven't really heard of them... or the parts you need to make them work...

I say just get an eGo... it will hold you over until you get your first mod in about a month.
(of course you'll still enjoy your eGo)

I just identified that disposable in his other thread (401 clone).
C'mon tango. An eGo should satisfy a person for more than a month. Battery charging drove me to my first mod.

true, I am still on my eGo ;-) I think it could satisfy forever... just too tempting to go up to a 5v...

also, if you want something sexy... vapor station has the 510/901 re-branded... with fancy names and design... like the totem... I think they are 15 or 20 or 30 or? more percent off... you could get one for the price of a bare bones... they have excellent customer service... email eric and ask him what the discount code is...
