It's so crazy how many people have managed to quit smoking. It's revolutionary. I thought it was amazing that I could quit and I was only a smoker for 5.5-6 years. To the people who have managed to quit with 2x and even more... Wow. I am proud!
Yeah, I was extremely partial -- I'd be downright grumpy if the local stores didn't have my normal ones. I ended up getting the managers of a couple of local stores trained to keep "mine" in stock for me despite the fact that they weren't the most popular variety.I could see where someone who was partial to a certain brand of smokes would have problems vaping.

Based on this, I was more-or-less expecting to find one vape flavor that that I'd settle on as "mine". So far, that hasn't happened. Right now I'm back and forth between Halo's Torque (mildly diluted) and Longhorn. In fact, I'm wishing I had more tanks so I could have more varieties "at hand" -- but they're on order and should be here mid-week.![]()
I fell off the wagon today.
I ran into someone I hadn't seen in a bunch of years who's still smoking, so I went outside and had one of his "light tobacco" home-mades with him. It was less unpleasant than I was expecting. In fact, I made it most of the way though it, but toward the end I could feel it starting to do nasty things to the tops of my lungs. Not long after, I happily returned to vaping. I may be an incorrigible nicotine addict, but I'm a vaper now, not a smoker.
In order to atone for this sin, I got another person started vaping today. She and her husband had quit for a number of years but fell off the wagon when he got laid off from his job last summer. I lent her 2 Halo spinners, 4 Triton tanks, some extra heads and a selection of juice. I showed her how to use the stuff, and told her: Don't try to quit smoking, just see how many cigs you can not have if you do this instead; if the number is substantial, I'll set you up with some better gear; don't buy anything without talking to me first.
For me so far, it's not a question of wanting to chain-vape; I don't. I'll take a few puffs and put it down, but I do that more often than I used to light up an analog. The difference is sorta interesting because picking up the PVD and having a few puffs is less of a time commitment than lighting a stinky; those had gotten way too expensive to light and then let burn out in the ashtray, so once I lit one, I was almost always committed to smoking the whole thing. I never really chain-smoked either; there was a always a break between cigs.
What's happening to me now -- and it's worst somewhere in the mid-morning -- I'll be vaping and it just doesn't satisfy; there will be a craving for a stinky, and having one (or even half of one) will satisfy that craving for a good long time.
I really do need to keep my thinking positive here. I went into this deciding I wasn't going make myself miserable. I'm actually pleasantly surprised how much it's allowed me to cut back on the stinkies. I really wasn't expecting to be down to around 2 a day (from 40 or so!) this fast.
You are changing to a less hazardous way to get nicotine so there will be some differences (like switching from regular coke to diet coke).
Sorry, I may not have expressed myself well. I probably shouldn't have used the phrase "fell off the wagon". I didn't feel the "need" for a cig today, I was simply curious how I'd react to smoking one. My nic level is fine; I do mostly 15 mg, some 18 mg, and keep a few even higher WTA juices around for emergencies.Maybe you need to try a higher nicotine vape? I smoked almost 2 packs a day of lights and started at 12 mg, but I have some 18 mg too that are my "just in case" vapes. I am home all day, so vape at will and so far have not felt the need for a cig, but when that urge hits, maybe an increase in nic is the answer. Or maybe try a different flavor--I love Kringle's Curse from Halo and although it it is not a tobacco flavor, somehow it does make the hit I need. As everyone says here, count the cigs you don't smoke not the ones you do. Keep on keepin' on. You will do fine.![]()
