Hi everyone, and thank you for existing! This forum has been a wealth of information so far on the e-cig movement of which I now am one of the new members and supporters.

To tell a little about me and my e-cig story, I'm 25 and live in Toronto, Canada in a communal space. One of my neighbors owns an eGo-T I believe and gave me a try. I was instantly hooked, and started a near-obsessive research campaign into e-cigarettes, as my father whom I have had the pleasure to reunite with recently has been a lifelong analog smoker. I intend to save his life with this but I have a feeling that I'll have to do more than just recommend this, as he and most of my family lives in my native Romania. They have e-cigs there from what I can tell but nothing cigarette-like for a starter.

My father and I share a taste for aesthetics, so I know that he'll like what I do, and the mini kr-808s are what have always struck my fancy. I have a 7-11 here nearby from which I first purchased an Xhale 02 and it gave me an idea on my vaping habits as well as what I'm looking for performance-wise. I can already tell that these are the bottom of the barrel, so I ordered a Redds Kit from Happy Vapor, waiting for it to arrive as we speak. I will keep you notified on my experience, but I have heard good things about the Redds, as I am more of a habitual/social smoker than a heavy multi-pack-a-day smoker.

I do have a few questions (they're newbie questions, so my apologies in advance if they've been asked before and for the length of this post). From what I understand the kr808s are horizontal coils...I haven't seen any anatomy pics except ones that seemed to be vertical, unless I'm misunderstanding the terminology. Their clearomizer version appeals to me as well. I can see how much e-juice I have left. My question is: does gravity have an effect on this particular cartomizer? As in do I have to keep the e-juice flowing towards one end of the carto to keep it vaping properly? I know there's wicks involved as well but from what I noticed some function better than others.

Anyway sorry for the long post, kind of trying to hit 2 birds with one stone as my curiosity is skyrocketing.

I don't know about all that technical stuff but I am happy with my Volt which is an 808.

More important, glad you are giving up the stinkies for vaping. There is a lot to learn but fortunately you don't have to know everything to get an 808, some cartridges and start weaning yourself off the cigs.

Congrats on making such a positive change for yourself and your Dad! I understand the obsessive part. I feel I'm a little obsessed with it all myself. I gave my Mom one of my setups to get her started and she hasn't smoked since. We had a family reunion today and she was coughing deeply so I think she's well on her way to recovering from years and years of smoking. It makes me happy. I'm new to this myself but I do believe any time a wick is involved it must stay moistened with the juice. I would think keeping everything near full would help with that. Again, congrats and welcome!

Thank you for the warm welcome. :)

An update over the past few weks, I have become far more educated since my first post so I managed to answer many of my own questions, heh... I'm vaping well on my Redds kit, it's a fairly performant kit for a beginner, yet I'm already looking into something more. Right now, my eyes are set on the CigEasy Elite 808. It seems like the kind of PV that'll keep me going at home and if I'm on the go. I don't mind recharging a battery a few times throughout the day, but I'm turning out to be a heavier vaper than I even originally assumed, and the Elite's aesthetics are really tickling my fancy. Only thing is that I wish it came with a PCC equivalent to the Redds kit, I really like the idea of being able to charge on the go...I suppose I'll have to test out how well the Elite will keep up with me first.

Also, due to being a poor student, I'm only vaping straight VG right now, but I plan on investing in a good stash of RY4 or something similar. I'm pretty interested in caramelly tobacco, or sweet tobacco flavours, judging by the fact that I'm enjoying the prefilled cartos I got with the Redds kit from HappyVaper.com. Any suggestions from more experienced vapers are welcome, I'm here to learn :)

Finally, sorry I'm so long-winded in these posts, I seem to always have a lot to share. This has been so far an awesome adventure. One quick question to anyone that may know about this: In my research I found that v2Cigs and the Smoov kits seem to be right up there as the longest-lasting batteries and performance of all super-minis. Anyone know which one would fare better than the other? Couldn't find specific mAHs on the batteries of each, and all the reviews are equally positive. Just a curiosity, I'm thinking of upgrading my on-the-go kit to something a little more powerful, and keep the Elite mostly as an at-home PV. I know a friend who would benefit from the Redds as a gift, so that might work out for her too.

Hi Tattz. For 808s I think you might like Smokeless Image Volts Smokeless Image | Only The Best Electronic Cigarette | Starter Kits

The 65mms are 280 mah, the 78mms are 320mah. Here's a size comparison chart

They have PCCs. You can also upgrade to their X2 - and still use your SI stuff with those too. The X2s come in 650, 900 or 1300mah. I think you'll find these better than V2s.

You can use these coupon codes: 10VOLTECF for 10% off entire purchase
CompareOur808d for 15% off cartomizers only

Here's a size comparison on Smokeless Image batts - from the smaller ones that you seem to like, to the Ego-type size ones. Some people don't realise the range available. They're a good product. Click the pic for a bigger view.

I think if you like the cig-a-like style you would do well to check out the Smokeless Image products. I think the manual 78 mm batteries [$1 extra each] last me quite awhile and there is a PCC available. If you get the Prostarter kit suggest the mega PCC. Also, the CE3's fit on the mini very nicely and are reusable for a number of times. There is going to be a new product out that is that same size but an easier refill shortly.

You can get sample pack cartos and then just buy the refill bottle to use with your CE3's.

A few thoughts for you. SI has great customer service IMHO and I have enjoyed the cigarette feel of the mini.

Wow, I didn't even notice that SmokelessImage had the x2 batteries...those mAh ratings are pretty amazing for what I'm noticing is a really slim battery...seems really similar in size to the Elite 808 that I originally had my eyes on, unless I'm mistaken? My perfect ecig would be something thin and long, I don't mind if it's thicker than the super-mini batteries as long as it's not as big as the eGo, so to speak. Don't mean to be too picky but aesthetics are going to be really important for my dad, and I want to get something for myself that will match. i't s a father-and-son thing

Thank you for the input kiwivap, I would not have noticed the extra large batteries if it wasn't for you folks.

Also, ShogaNinja, I can't access the vaper's forum yet, I'm too much of a newbie I guess. But I do appreciate the love :)

What can anyone tell me about the Mega PCC that SI has for the Volt? Does it work for all their batteries, even their mini-sized ones? How do they compare to other PCC's?

I'm guessing you found an answer to this elsewhere, but I'll chime in anyway (in case you haven't). The mega pcc works for the 65mm & 78mm batteries. I don't believe it charges their X2 's. Mine worked ok for 3 wks, is no longer working (waiting to hear back from then about exchanging it). Most of what I'd read was it is better then their smaller pcc; I probably just got a defective one. SI's customer service is awesome (a lot of the reason I bought my setup from them), so I'm sure they will take care of it. If you haven't bought yet I highly recommend them. I did a LOT of research before deciding on a vendor and they seem to really stand out as an excellent company with an excellent product (plus a 3 month warranty). : )

iquittedithink, thank you so much for your input. I actually haven't gotten my answer anywhere else, I just have a lot of patience when it comes to this forum, especially cause I know how many newcomers there are and how many people are looking for answers here on a daily basis, it's easy to get your post lost in translation. I really think that the volt will be perfect for me as a portable pcc upgrade now. I just don't have any other means to pay online aside from email transfer, as I'm having serious issues with paypal and bad credit rating (due to being a student). I will have to be patient I guess. Thanks again for chimeing in and I look forward to join the Volt crew. I'm also planning on picking up one of Shan's mods from Shan Mods @ VAPECORE.com for at home vaping. Messaged her about payment options but I havent' gotten word back. I know she's super busy rocking the mods and taking care of a family and raising a kid. she's super awesome. I'll try to message her again about it. Much love, everyone, keep vaping :)
