Truth in post titles, right??

So I wound up here based almost entirely on YouTube videos posted by a guy named cozzcon, and that God for that. If I hadn't found this place, I'd probably have wound up buying the first thing a google search for "ecigarettes" turned up. I think it was "Blu," which I believe now I would not have been happy with at all. If he happens to read this, a big "Thanks Guy!" to you.

Anyway, after reading around here, I think I'm about ready to pull the trigger on an eGo T kit. Naturally, I have questions.

First is price. Between googling and checking ECF vendor sites, I can see the standard "2 batts, 2 atomizers, 5 cartridges, charger and some sample juice" kit runs anywhere from $40-$100. Now, I know quality on these things is wildly variable, and to a certain extent I'm going to get what I pay for. So, how much SHOULD I pay?

Second is juice. I really have no idea what I'd want here, aside from thinking I'd probably like to start out with just the traditional "tobacco" flavor. What I'd like to find is an assortment that offers a variable amount of nicotine, and a selection of VG/PG ratios, but I'm not finding anything that fits the bill. So, suggestions?

I paid about $60 for my eGo setup (official Joye make), have seen them for $50... from my research I have come to believe that many of the price differences stem from Joye vs. various off-brands; personally, I have a few friends that use off-brand eGo's and they have worked A-ok so far.

I purchased some extra supplies from Stormy's Vapor Cellar, and found this vendor to have the cheapest prices (of anywhere I looked) for actual Joye products.

I paid $70 for my Ego T starter kit, with just the stuff you listed above. A lot of forum members like the Riva, which is an Ego T clone that tends to be cheaper. I haven't seen or used a Riva, but I trust the people here who say it's a solid unit.

Juice is going to be entirely subjective. I dislike tobacco flavors; a good friend at work loves RY4, which is a tobacco flavor with a hint of caramel. My sister prefers fruit flavors. I like clove and dessert flavors, like Bavarian cream.

I don't know any vendors that offer a variety of nicotine levels in a sample pack, which is not to say there aren't any. One idea is to get 24mg AND get 0mg in the same flavor - if 24mg is too much, mix with 0mg to make 18mg or 12mg.

One thing I learned the hard way is that, as you give up cigarettes and vape more, your taste buds and sense of what's good, change. So I recommend buying no more than 20 ml of any one flavor, even if you LOVE it today. Because, in four weeks, when your taste buds come out of hiding, you might not love it any more.

Congrats on your decision and good luck!!!

Looks like you have chosen your equipment so I will just tell you abouy my fav e-juice.

I have just received my first order of e-juice from Blue Mist Vaping. Super fast shipping, great prices and wonderful juice. I am really enjoying their Robacco Menthol. It has just the perfect amount of menthol and tobacco flavor. My hubby enjoys the Robacco Cherry. He said the cherry is barely there and to him it is perfect that way. They also have one just called Robacco. I would think it would be a mild tobacco flavor. I am not in any way connected to this company other than being a very satisfied customer.

BTW: Welcome to ECF.

I'm the odd gal out here! All I vape are tobacco flavors from FreedomsmokeUSA.com. I tried fruity, desserts, candy and the sweetness didn't do it for me. I tired of them all in about 5 minutes. I will vape them occasionally, but never for a long time. Just today I pulled out some Pina Colada I have and filled a tank...just to change things up a bit and 10 minutes later was emptying the tank. :) Back to my Pure Cig!

I vape FSU: Pure Cig, Virginia and 7 leaves. They're all mild flavors and pretty light in color so they don't gunk up cartos as fast. I also mix those three flavors just for something different sometimes. At FSU you can choose your mixture of PG/VG, add extra flavor, choose your nic level and they sell 120ml bottles, which I love, since I know what I like now.

I started with the eGo-T and still use it every day. I got my kits from Cignot.com. WONDERFUL company and lightening fast shipping. I would recommend cartos too. Maybe pick up a few boxes of Boge 2.0 cartos. They work great on the eGo-T batteries. So do tanks/cartos! The 3ml tanks are a great size for the eGo-T bat.

Sorry guys. I know this has already been answered, but I've had an account on ECF for almost a year well over a year now and have decided to come out of lurker status. You've made a good choice with the eGo-T. My first ecig about two years ago was a 510. I soon after upgraded to the eGo and I love it. I still have my passthru and still use it everyday. I wasn't a huge fan of the tanks when they first came out and actually had a bad experience with the LR tank atty I had. The wick that goes from the atty to the plate that punctures the tank broke in half within a couple weeks of use. I now use 1000 mAh battery and the DCtank when I'm driving. When I'm at work or home I drip in a mega atty. Hope this helps. Welcome to ecf.

Just a quick note about tobacco flavoured juice...From my experience with the few tobacco flavours that I have tried, just remember when ordering. They are "tobacco" flavours...I know that sounds weird, but they are not "tobacco lit on fire" flavours. They don't taste like ashtrays....thank god!

The best i can describe it as...Ever open a fresh pack of analogs and smell it? Or held a single one up under your nose before it was lit? It's kinda like that. I find that a lot of them have sweet undertones to them...That is not to say they are bad as there are a few that I love myself.

Just keep in mind, that it's not going to taste like your former bad habit lol

Congrats on the eGo choice, I have one myself and love it. I drip when at home, and use the Smoktech mega dual coil carto's when I'm at work and driving. I'm sure I'm going to switch to the tanks soon enough, it's really just a matter of money right now.

Just a quick suggestion.

I would highly recommend you stay away from eGo-T systems. The tank systems a very finicky and tend to leak. They also produce poor flavor and vapor.

The eGo is a regulated battery, meaning it will only run around 3.4v. If you step up to something like the kGo/Riva, they are unregulated and produce a full 3.7v (4.1v off the charger). The difference is the eGos will generally ALWAYS run around 3.2v-3.4v. A kGo/Riva will taper off to around 3v before completely dying off.

The way I see it is I'd much rather have 3.7v+ for 2-4 hours before dropping off and recharging than 3.2v for 6 hours before dying.

Regardless of voltage, I would suggest staying away from eGo tank systems. They are a failed product.

If you do go with the ego-T, buy a box of cartomizers too. That way you can try both- see which ones you like better.

I started vaping with an ego and cartos. When the tanks came out I tried them and found them a little lacking (too much fiddling for me) and went back to cartos. The tanks are good to try out juice though.

The tank is just basically a juice delivery system. With an ego battery (KGO, Riva, etc.) you have tons of options. You can use the tanks, try different types of cartomizers, drip, try tank mods, clearomizers.

It's a solid PV and believe me, if you like vaping - this will be the first of many! But it's an excellent introduction into vaping with a pretty solid, reliable pv. With an ego, you can see what you like or don't like and move on from there. Some people find they need more power, others more battery life. Some want a juice delivery system of some type. I still use an ego type pv 90% of the time.

Hi Thatotherbadfrog, Welcome to the ECF. I Purchased my fair share of eGo tanks in the past, I submit to you my personal view. I like the convenience of the tank, the atty and the whole top portion of the setup. My personal tanks all gave wonderful vapor and yes they do require far more routine maintenace than any other product but heres where they fell short for me personally. Flavor. I began my vaping journey, not counting my frist pv, with a 510 and atty/carts combo. While the convenience of not fiddling with the carts was really a welcome pleasure the in convenience of having to fiddle with about everything else was not. I eventually found out how to use a cartomizer properly and found the flavors of all my liquids again. Now bear in mind i gave the eGo t a fair shot like five to six months. In that time i burrned up quite a few cleaning them, ruined some by trying to get the wick adjusted correctly but when they worked they were the "Cats Pajammas" or so I thought. Fair price on an actual Joytech eGo t is about $70. Now on to the second part, the joytech part. I do own a few joytech egot batts(5) I also own a few clones(7). The clones, for me, out perform the joye models in the voltage arena. I have tested all of my batteries, fresh off the charger the clones meter a full half volt to seventh volt higher than the joye batteries, same charger, same green light when charged. At about half cycle the clone batteries are still out doing the joye models. Now as far as consistant, the joye has it there second draw is like the tenth, and thirtyeth etc. I know when the clones are going down in voltage, the joyes are a little harder to pickup on.
Oh and eliquid, pick up as many as you like from any of the great ecf suppliers listed. Many liquid vendors make bottles as small a 3mL which is enough liquid to determine if that flavor is for you. Well i think i have ranted long enough, at least i feel like i have.
Good Luck. Happy Vaping.

Hi all, thanks for the replies.

I ordered an ego-t starter kit from My Vapor Store (was the forum supplier with the middle-of-the-road price). BTW, the forum supplier thing is a great idea, I feel very confident ordering from someone when I know I have a public avenue for getting any issues worked out.

I'm trying to wait patiently for the kit to be delivered, but I'm about ready to do a Scott Pilgrim in front of the door lol.

Also ordered a sample juice selection from darthvapers based on some reviews I saw here, plus the fact that the guy seems to be active and posting in his vendor thread every day, taking feedback and whatnot. My only fear is that the juice will get here before the ego leaving me with nothing to do but sniff at the bottles lol.

Anyway, I'm really glad I found this site, seems like an awesome community.

I just got an ego t system for $100 from nicfitnation up here in Canada. Pricey I guess but I like that it came with a or tank atty as well as the 2 normal ones. From my newbie experience it vapes fine, I get good th my only problem with the system (and why I have a pack of cartos and an ego c coming) is that the atty's are a fairly sealed unit. I know I can pull it all apart to clean it but I'm not real comfortable doing so.

As for flavours, as a smoker I only smoked one kind of cheap cigarettes, didn't like cigars, didn't like flavored cigars or cigarettes and didn't like hookah only the taste of my cigarettes. I ordered 6 bottles of ejuice 5 different tobacco flavours and 1 blueberry. The only one I can vape is the blueberry, i cannot stand the other ones.

Yay! It's here!

I followed the directions in the beginner's guide posted here -- which does a great job of picking up where the kind of disappointingly brief users' manual leaves off, and I'm digging it so far. Gave myself one hell of a head rush on the first couple of drags, so I still need to work on the technique. I've only tried the cuban tobacco flavor so far, and I actually rather like the taste, but then again I've always liked cigars...

My wife tried it and immediately claimed my spare, so I'll be ordering another kit tomorrow.

I got the ego-t last week. I don't like the tank system, all of the 5 tanks included with my kit leaked. I'm thinking of getting a stardust, it looks pretty cool on the ego battery. Has anyone found any carto/tank sampler kits anywhere? It would be nice to try out a variety and then make a choice from there. Thanks all, ECF is the best online vaping community!
