So, I took advantage of Rockstar's sampler offer - 5 bottles of 15ml, any base, any strength, any flavor. The price was good, at just over 26 cents per mL (the offer is 5 bottles for US$20 plus shipping), and the selection is great.
I chose all juices at 25mg nic, PG/VG base 50/50, in the following flavors: Cherry Cola; Peach; Key Lime; Banana; Black Raspberry.
Shipping was fast, and the cute blue glass bottles (with glass dropper) were securely packed in bubblewrap and a proper box. There was no leakage or breakage in transit.
Juices were all sampled using fresh, new CE2 clearomizers in the 3mL syringe mod on my Copper Hex at 3.7V. I also tried a dual-coil clearo on my Ego for two of the flavors.
Vapor production, right off the bat, was great on all of them. The 50% VG definitely gave a rich smoothness and muted the flavors just a little, but in a pleasurable way. The CE2's didn't seem to have any wicking issues with the juice, although I did find myself inverting the clearo every few pulls to make sure the top part of the wick was wet.
Taste: well, OK, this is a subjective area and YMMV etc but I can honestly say that at the base I chose I was happy with all the flavors.
Black Raspberry: my favorite of the bunch. Good, dry, smooth flavor - subtle but complex. Good throat-hit, no harshness.This was tried in a dual-coil clearo on my Ego and on the Copper (I ran out of syringes!). 8/10.
Cherry Cola: next favorite. Again, good, smooth, flavor with no hint of the 'medicinal' taste that other juices have - really came alive when mixed with a little of the Key Lime! Throat hit was great and, again, no harshness. 8/10.
Peach: this was an interesting one. The flavor was very fresh, very peachy but vapor wasn't as thick and, presumably, this is why the throat-hit seemed less. Still, another winner that I will buy again. 7/10.
Key Lime: Limey, yes, but also a touch on the acidic side. Flavor and throat hit were both smooth. 6/10.
Banana: not sure about this one at all. The banana taste is there but there's a lack of sweetness - to me it tastes of the smell of banana rather than the taste of the fruit itself.5/10
Well, overall, it's still great deal and I may well partake again of the offer with a different set of flavors and different base PG/VG ratio. I like offers like this as they give me an idea, as a potential DIY-er, of what is possible.
