YiHi SXmini SL Class V2 Mod by Infinium

YiHi SXmini SL Class V2, gifted by Sourcemore without any working relationship or perceived payment. This single battery device is part of YiHi's trilogy of mods (re)released to the market, distinguishing itself as the mid-range option that supports 18650, 20700, and 21700 battery formats. As YiHi has accustomed us, it features a chipset oriented towards temperature control vaping.

The dimensions, inevitably, increase to 89 x 43 x 30 mm, larger than the MQ Class but still contained and, even if by little, under 90 mm in height, which isn't much for a mod that takes 21700 batteries. The weight is perhaps the most painful point, as it approaches dual battery mods at 136 final grams, but it also means it's much more durable than its smaller sibling. The materials remain a mix of aluminum and steel.

"Premium" packaging with an adhesive authenticity seal keeping the chest-like box sealed. Inside, the YiHi SXmini SL Class V2, a USB Type-C cable, and inside a small bag, the SXmini warranty and what is vital for this mod: the instruction manual. The adapter for using 18650 batteries is already installed.

The thick steel plate of the 510 connection is held by 2 screws, with a diameter of (approximately) 28 mm; for the screws to disappear, the atomizer's base must be 25 mm in diameter, otherwise they remain visible. It features a gold-plated, spring-loaded 510 pin.

The back of the SL Class V2 is rounded to fit the palm of the hand. YiHi decided to insert an "SXmini" aluminum plate to break the monotony, distinguish itself from brands offering faux leather inserts, and convey that it's a slightly higher-end product. It doesn't bother the touch much. The faux leather insert in my case is the "Tang" version, which is a sort of damask, but colors where it's absent are also available.

Near the bottom, it features a plate with various specifications engraved, along with the CE mark and disposal symbol. The battery cap is not the actual bottom plate, as a part of the body also rests on surfaces and helps balance the SL Class V2. It's steel on steel threading which, let's say, isn't exactly smooth when screwing.

Also equipped with 6 ventilation holes, a much better solution than the visible cap of the MQ Class as no dirt enters. Unscrewing it, you access the battery compartment. You can choose between the 18650 format, using the adapter provided in the package, or by removing it, you can use 20700 and 21700 batteries. Inside, a "-" is also engraved, indicating the insertion direction, with the negative resting on the cap.

On the front side, there is a hexagonal fire button installed in an indentation of the body, making thumb pressing more comfortable and shaving off a few grams. The display is a 0.96-inch IPS screen. Compared to the normal TFT and OLED screens installed on most mods and pod mods, an IPS display allows for much more defined colors with the possibility of modifying brightness via the menu. The + and - buttons are absent, replaced by a joystick that can be moved in 4 directions in addition to being pressable. Finally, a USB Type-C port.

The chipset installed on the SXmini SL Class V2 is the YiHi SX730, and in full YiHi style, it has many features oriented towards TC but also customizable options usable in variable wattage. So, it's not a mod exclusively for members of the "TC sect." The screen offers plenty of info like wattage, voltage, a 4-digit puff counter, and battery percentage indicator.

Navigation:
5 clicks of the fire button to turn on the SL Class V2
5 clicks of the fire button or hold the joystick right for 3 seconds to enter the menu
3 clicks of the fire button to lock or unlock the SL2
1 click of the joystick to unlock wattage selection

Menu items:
System off: the only way to turn off the SL2
Mode: to switch between wattage, voltage, or Temp/temperature control output
P.Counter: to reset the puff counter
Tweaks: another submenu listed below
Stats: to view chipset and firmware versions
Temp Units: to choose whether to display degrees in Celsius or Fahrenheit
Timeout: to modify screen timeout
Exit: to return to the "home" screenItems in tweaks:

Brightness: screen brightness adjustment
Reset: to restore the SL2 to factory settings
AVG Room temp: to select the ambient temperature for more accurate TC
Auto Power: if activated, when the atomizer is inserted, wattage selection is also unlocked and it automatically reads the resistance. If not activated, you must press fire to read the new coil.

The power curves are used in both variable wattage and TC.
Soft - starts at 75% of the selected temperature or wattage and increases to 100%
Neutral - the SL Class V2 delivers the selected wattage
Strong - starts at 125% of the selected temperature or wattage and decreases to 100%
SXi-EQ - 3 "empty" profiles customizable as desired with variable wattage every 0.5 seconds of the puff

What does this mean? In Soft mode, if you select 10 watts, the fire starts at 7.5 watts which gradually increases to 10 watts. Conversely, in Strong, if you select 10 watts, the fire delivers 12.5 watts and "drops" to 10 watts during the puff.

For TC, when selecting Mode -> Temp, the SL Class V2 first asks if the temperature should be Dynamic or Constant, then allows selection of Ni200, SS316, or TCR for the material. Once selected, it displays the resistive value of the coil and whether you want to lock it or re-read it. After this selection, by clicking the joystick -> pressing right, there are 5 profiles: Cold, Cool, Norm, Warm, Hot, which are customizable as desired by setting voltage and temperature. There's no point in dwelling further; you'll need the mod in front of you and spend fifteen minutes getting familiar with which buttons to press. It's not a difficult circuit, just more "in-depth" than 99% of commercial ones.

Protections:
No Atomizer detected / Atomizer short
Low Battery: power cutoff when the battery reaches 3.2 volts
Coil ohm too low: the coil has an ohm value lower than 0.1
Too hot: overheating temperature

If the MQ Class had the advantage of being small, here the biggest advantage is acquiring something with a universally considered superior circuit compared to other lower-end mods for just 15-20 euros more than commercial mods. Considering also the market reversal for mods, where only 18650 devices seem to have returned to dominate the scene, the SL Class V2 is one of the few recent 21700s whose footprint remains acceptable, and it still boasts the advantage of the YiHi circuit. Although it's "oriented" towards TC vaping, no one prevents you from buying it for a pre-built coil or rebuildable atomizer and using it in variable wattage, as few manufacturers offer such highly "customizable" power curves.

YiHi SXmini SL Class V2 Mod is available on Sourcemore at this link YiHi SXmini SL Class V2 Mod 100W for $44.89, by entering the code SLV2 at checkout.

I'd like to thank the e-cigarette forum community and staff for the space, and Sourcemore for providing me with the SL Class V2.
