yes i know this could open up a 2K+ plus on all the wrongs of Canada post. That is not the intention, as this is meant more as to be informative, as i had to raise a eyebrow and wonder how CP will try to cover this one up.

What is not in the newspaper article is that there is countless charges and mail pieces they have found though they are saying it is mostly electronics. Hmm wonder if this is where a certain person's missing Z Atty pro went? (no not me either)

A Canada Post employee has been charged with mail theft.

Mounties say the 24-year-old Winnipegger was a “mail delivery contract employee” for Canada Post who ran the Highway 6 route between Winnipeg and Gypsumville.

RCMP executed a search warrant at a Gypsumville home on Monday after being alerted to multiple reports of mail theft along the route. They seized a number of items — primarily electronic goods — and arrested the man at the scene,

The suspect, who was not named by Mounties, faces charges of mail theft, possession of property obtained by crime, and possession of the proceeds of crime. He was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court in St. Martin on Dec. 12.

Mail theft, that worse than burning a flag!! But seriously I wonder if the seized property will be returned to the would be owners or sold at a police auction?

sadly without missing a bit i can answer that for you. It will be sold at a police auction, as once it goes through the court it will get "lost". There was a case or two of that not long ago where it happened.

In honesty, i thought it was laughable that you always see sections of the Government (be it Data collection, Mail, Money) and how they have all these 'fail safe's' where no case of theft can happen.....then again Canada Post can go the route of CIBC (i think it was, with the case of missing hard drives and all that personal information) and say Puralator stole it in transit.

Yes that is sad.

A friend of mine sent me a link to a police auction site a few moths ago, I couldn't believe how much property was for sale. They made it seem like it was all confiscated from drug dealers etc but I'm sure a good chunk of it was stolen property from the average joe!!

It kind of makes you wonder where all that auction money ends up? I'm pretty sure its not going to charity, maybe a new squad car or tazer?

Meh, doesn't phase me in the least. It's not so much I'm distrustful of CP, it's just people in general that I'm wary of. I've been in circles with many shady folks in my time, and was one in a past life. Everyone's capable of being crooked, it's surprising how many choose that route, but more surprising how many don't. Still doesn't make me trust people more than I can throw them.

Agreed there are definitely very good people in CP and "other branches of Government" who are trying to do a good job. Unfortunately no matter the chain is only as strong as the weakest link. Its the weakest link that kills us all.

That doesn't surprise me in the least or lessen my opinion of CP, it happens everywhere.

Here's a good one for everyone that has me laughing....and i do believe the post office is up to something and i think it is possible we are nearing them going on strike.

Monday Morning Vapor Geek put some items in the mail for review purposes on and sent it expedited. Now i can tell from experience that this mod of mail from Surrey, Victoria, and Vancouver takes no longer then four (4) days.

However this being said: Monday it had shown expected delivery was 1 to 11 days (HUH?). Ok, cool...not a issue....however when i checked on Wednesday it said 1 to eternity....so is Canada Post now saying you get it in 1 to 4 lifetimes from now?
