Youde Goblin Mini - building

Hi All,

I have a few questions regarding some recent purchases. For the last few years, I've been very happy with my kayfun Lite / .9 - 1.0 ohm builds and an 18350 mech mod.

Yesterday, Iurchased an eVic VTC and Goblin Mini. I have both 28 AWG Kanthal & 24 AWG Kanthal, so have been experimenting with sub ohm builds. I'm a noon to these.

My current setup is dual coil 24 AWG with 5 wraps on a 2.5 mm screwdriver. This is reading .23 ohms on my device. I'm vaping at 25 watts, but this seems low for the resistance of my coils (based on some research). I see a lot of people like 50+ watts on low ohm builds. TBH, I'm a little afraid to crank it up higher, as I've o ly used mech mods in the past. Thoughts?

Also, do you guys have recommendations on better builds to try and what safe / enjoyable wattage to vape them at? I'm curious if I should try a 28 AWG build. Space is pretty limited on the Goblin Mini deck and I've done a couple builds that end up touching the chimney.

If not obvious from my vaping history, I should also mention that I'm more of a mouth-to-lung vaper. No direct lung hits and not interested in "clouds". I have the AFC almost closed on the Goblin Mini.

The real question is "Are YOU satisfied with the vape you're getting with a .25 build at 25 Watts?" If you are, then no one else's opinion or experience should matter. However, the build you mentioned is nearly identical to a build I did earlier today, and I wonder if your screws are tight. Mine came out to .18 Ohms. Steam-Engine.Org calculates .25 Ohms at 6 wraps... Nit picky, I know... Anyways, in my experience, going much above 30 watts with any build in the Goblin Mini can lead to some very warm hits. Stay under 30... You're fine.

I will say that my "go-to" build in the Goblin Mini is 26 AWG, 7 wrap, dual, 2.4 mm. Comes in around .4ish, and I can vape that all day long at 30 watts.

I do take lung hits, though... If I want to take MTL, I switch back to my gennies...

There are a lot of factors that can influence the quality of your vape besides the resistance of your build. I just got done vaping a GMini fill at 3.2V. It was a 0.4 ohm 26ga dual, nothing special, but the reason I had to turn it down so much was the juice I was using. It simply doesn't like the heat (GVC, in case you're wondering). Other factors include airflow, how well the atty inherently wicks, and how well you yourself wicked it.

Thanks, Shawn. I do believe my screws are tight, but I'll check again once I finish this tank. I am pretty satisfied with the vape at 25 watts, although it is loud and seems to pop a lot. Way louder than my Kayfun . I will try your build once I get my hands on some 26 AWG wire. I may try a 28 AWG around .4 - .5 ohms tonight. Just hope I can make it fit without hitting the chimney.

Thanks, sacullen. I certainly appreciate how the juice can affect the vape, among other factors. I'm used to 12 mg juice in my Kayfun, but have some 9 mg laying around. That's what I used in the Goblin Mini, in hopes that the throat hit would be more tolerable at high watts. I should pick up some lower nic juice to try and see if it's more comfortable when increasing wattage. What's kind of crazy to me is that with my current setup, I'm only vaping at 2.4v and the throat hit is still very strong.

The Goblin Mini does not have massive airflow, although much more than your Kayfuns.

I agree with @Shawn Hoefer that 30w is about the upper limit for most using this atty.

Also, if you are closing down the airflow, you are reducing the atty's ability to transfer heat, and therefore will probably find you need to lower the watts further.

My favourite build on this atty is:

Dual Coil, 28g, 2.5mm ID, 6 wraps, 0.6ohms - @25watts. (With the airflow fully open).

I find the 28g gets the best flavour from this atty - IMO
