Hey guys. I currently run 1.5ohm kanger T2 that I rebuild with cotton on ego penstyle batteries.

I'm looking to getting a 40W box mod and a Youde Goblin for more DIY fun. The problem I have is I don't really want to mess around with sub-ohm builds until I'm more comfortable with battery safety and all that.

All that being said, am I going to be able to get a satisfying >1ohm vape with something like this, and if so what size of kanthal should I be using? (since the goblin has the small build deck)

Thanks for any input you guys have.

Edit: I like a lot of flavour with a good throat hit but if I have to choose I'll take flavour for sure. In case that helps to inform on build choice.

The reality is, there's no battery safety to worry about or get comfortable with if you get a 40w regulated mod and a quality 20 amp battery. If you build too low, the mod won't fire. The mod won't pull more amps than its rated for. Just buy a good name-brand mod, and a name brand (Sony, LG, Samsung) battery and you'll be fine.

Now, are you looking at the Goblin, or the Goblin Mini? Because the original Goblin is kinda outdated, has a few issues, and doesn't easily support single coil builds. The Goblin Mini has an adapter for single coil, and 28ga Kanthal would probably be your best single coil wire choice for your resistance target, giving you a fair amount of wraps and still fitting in the build deck. If you want dual in the same range, go with 30ga.

my fav to put in the original goblin is a .5-.6 ohm build. Dual coil, 28g kanthal, I rock it on most anything. wicks greak, flavor is amazing, and it works wonders.

As far as low as I've gotten, I run a .32-.36 ohm build in my goblin atm. 26g MAd Rabbit wire, it vapes like crazy and never goes dry ^^ the flavor is the stuff dreams are made of =D

Listen to this post.

There are far better options than an OG goblin nowadays and sub-ohm on a regulated device is no more dangerous than 1 ohm plus.

You'd be hard pressed to beat the Goblin Mini for the price and performance, and other, more expensive atomizers in its class have just as many shortcomings.

Speaking of shortcomings, I personally don't use mine anymore because I find myself hating center post decks with a passion these days (I'm temp control only, and uneven legs drive me up the wall), and that DAMN. FILL. SCREW. I swore, swore, swore I'd never buy another atomizer with a fill screw, then bought the Goblin hoping it wouldn't drive me insane. No such luck.

I've vaped my Goblin Mini single coil and above one ohm, and it does very well in that configuration. Using 27g or 28g wire would be your best bet for achieving that.
I also like the single and with dual I vape a 27ga.(odd) kanthal 10 wrap(slightly spaced) each coil on a 2.0mm universal tool. Seems to work good. Waiting for my new laptop to arrive so I can give titanuim a try. Looking forward to this. Could not get nickel to work good for me(just my comparison).

Are you talking about the Goblin Mini?

Do you want a mech mod of regulated mod?

The regulated mods have safety features.

Will not Fire if ohm level too low.

Reverse battery protection,

Will not Fire more than 10-15 seconds.

Alert when board gets too hot..

I use the Kayfun Nano, Orchid and GMini. I find the sweet spot for me is a coil at .8-1 ohm.

Awesome thanks guys. It is the goblin mini I'm looking at. Seems to be the perfect fit since I really want to avoid anything much bigger than 40mm. Though I'm definitely happy to take suggestions if anyone knows of a smallish RTA that outperforms these guys.

I haven't found any RTA that beats the GMini for flavor, and darn few RBAs that do either.

Out of the RBAs I have tested only the Darang beats the GMini
