This line (you'll shoot...) is famous from "A Christmas Story", and that's what I thought of when I came upon this 510 atomizer almost takes my eye out..(dry burning can be dangerous!) - YouTube when I first started vaping. Urban legend?
I had studied master highping's Atty Resurrection Method and had to dry burn my attys daily as a matter of vaper survival, no clean attys=no good vape. But I was paranoid (chicken) with possible atomizer bombs. So, for those faint of heart, this is what I do (here comes the list again).
1. Dim the lights, you may see the glow too late in bright light and lose the atty...or more.
2. Burn in front of a mirror, the most damage if atty popped is 7 years of bad luck if you're superstitious.
3. Tilt & swivel the atty while burning. The bridge could obscure the glow, again may be too late when you see it. The inside of attys is stainless and reflects the glow under the bridge.
4. If you're really paranoid, use little 510 batts to dry burn, not the eGos or bigger. It takes longer, but is less likely to pop it. I vape with Riva 510s but burn with 510s.
4th month of vaping, I haven't lost an atty yet (kow), rotating 5 2.5 & 2.2 ohms (not even LR). Hey, what can I say? I'm figuring this out as I go...hope this helps.
