I'm considering ordering the Puresmoker Ace starter kit (or a couple 380 mAh Ace batteries). However...

I have had dismal experience with manual 801 and Kr8 batteries in the past. Unlike either the 510 or the Prodigy V1, for example, the more recessed button has not engaged the the battery reliably and generally has performed poorly.

On one 801, the button got stuck inside the housing never to be accessible again. A BE112 manual passthrough I tried performed as if it were generating about 2V, i.e., terribly.

A logo-covered* XL 380 mAh Kr8 battery didn't engage reliably and seemed less powerful than my 280 mAh automatic batteries. A 280 mAh manual Kr8 (from another vendor) died after three days.

* [NOTE: I am not talking about tasteful single-logos, e.g., those on the Ace or newer versions of the Vapor King.]

So you see why I am gun shy.

On the other hand, I love the 280 mAh Kr8 auto batteries and auto passthrough (3.7V inline battery style, not Puresmoker's 5V, which I don't own). I even use them with adapter for my penstyle attys. For whatever reason (less resistance?), they provide greater, more reliable power to the atty than the penstyle atty.

I would be very interested in learning what people's experience has been with manual Kr8 batteries, either 280 mAh or 380 mAh. For example (but not limited to), Puresmoker's Ace.

Thanks!

The button sticks on both my manuals, i'm not sure if its the button or the switch underneath.. I am careful to always remove the carto to avoid burning it. It seems to happen once a day and these are the standard white + brown striped kanger batts.

But, sometimes the autos stay engaged until I remove the carto and blow inside...seems less frequent than the manuals.

It's a tough decision for me too :D I'd like an xl auto batt, but have never seen one.

Last week I purchased the newer style, 13-sec cutoff, 380mAh manual KR8 batteries from V4L and have been pleased. Longer batt life than the 280mAh, but apart from that, no discernable difference to me. Button seems to engage reliably, and appears to protrude enough to mitigate the chance that it'd get stuck under the housing (but not far enough out that it's distracting).

I haven't tried the KR8 batts from PS. My only hesitation with the PS 280mAh batteries is the 5-sec cutoff.

Thanks, ThaLadyD! I decided to stop coping with skinny batteries. I just sold my Prodigy V1 here on ECF (I can't believe how quickly it happened – a few seconds) and used a chunk of the proceeds to buy a Bartleby.

Uh...you haven't looked very hard, D.;) GoodProphets carries them (5-second cutoff, in black) for $16, but I didn't like the one I received so I sent it back (no hassle, Rob is great to deal with). VaporKings just got them in (10-second cutoff, in white) for $17. Vapor4Life sells them for $15 (13-second cutoff, myriad color choices and a tasteful single logo:)).

Thanks, milky! It looks like you submitted your post virtually simultaneously with my response to TheLadyD.

I love my 13 second single logo V4L 380 mah XL manuals! :w00t:
I have all new 13 sec single logo VK 380 mah xl manuals (9 now) I have not problems with any yet. Granted the oldest is only 2 months old.
Two months is a long time in this world of vaping. Between H3D and Paranoyed, that is several batteries of the same type from the same supplier, which have performed well (and the buttons behaved themselves). If I ever want a change of pace from my soon-to-be-received Bartleby, I'll give one a try (only to use with adapters for my penstyle or 510 attys; I hate Kr8 carts and GreenCig carts don't work with manuals).

Not sure what mah my manual batts are, but I have 4 from V4L and they have all worked well and about the same...
According to Birdy's outstanding VaporKing User Guide, if your assembled e-cig is 117 mm, it is the regular battery, which is 280 mAh (although Birdy says 280 to 300 mAh); if it is 137 mm (approaching penstyle length), it is the 380 mAh XL; and if it is the size of a 100s analog (103 mm), it's the 180 mAh Shorty.

I have several 510 Cigs and Mega batteries and a Silver Bullet 6Volt mod. So i am thinking about getting the KR808 cig - From V4L - With the Kartomizers - Just wondering eveyones OPIONION if they are happy with that Unit ??- Or they Preffer the 510 Model ?? And if they don't like the KR808 model that much anymore and that are wanting the 510 Instead? Thanks for your info if you can .. :D

Don't forget the V4L warranty. ;)

i have the 280 mAh & 380 mAh (single logo, and one w/out logo cause i, er... sanded the paint off... i appreciate your strict good-taste standards, lol) from V4L in manual and adore them... the 380 is def my fave for charge life/vapor, etc. but i'm one of those dang v4l fanatics so i can't compare them to anything else to give this opinion weight for others. well, i have some v4l autos, which work fine but imo the manuals stomp 'em. part of the prob being that i'm now totally spoiled on long cut off since i only started vaping a month ago and never dealt with the 5 second... the very idea is, well. distasteful. ;)

I've been very happy with the V4L manual XL's with the 13-second cutoff. So far only one of them has had a slightly finicky button.

The Bartleby is a cool little gizmo. I bought one primarily to have a non-proprietary battery option, and it is a pretty good bang for the buck. I got mine setup for a 901, and mostly use it for dripping. I also bought an adapter for use with cartomizers.
