I will go first. My ultimate prototype: I would get a battery company to make a custom battery to fit my new mod. My battery mod would be CNC machined out of titanium for lightness and strength. I would check out metal coatings with Tungsten because it does not scratch. With unlimited funds I would hire a team of electrical and metals experts. Slim, long and sleek. If I had the R&D money to do it. I bet there is room in the E cig market for a Ferarri of ecigs mod.

List all the complaints you have about the types of e-cigs you have tried
(on a piece of paper, not here) and then list how you would fix each one of those.

Then critique your result and eliminate all the stupid fixes.
Then try and objectively do a PRO/CON evaluation of the remaining fixes.

Then a cost/benefit analysis (unless unlimited funds is really one of your criteria).

Toss out the NEVER having to top off the SUPERSIZED JUICEBOX, or FUELCELL POWERED MOD.

A Juice box that you just screw in the 30ml bottle you bought straight from DeKang would probably be the largest I would try. And a Stack battery, 32650 D cell sized MOD is probably approaching the HEAVY side. A Quad barrel MOD with switch selectable ports would give you 4 atty failures before you would have to RELOAD.

Oh, that's right, I said on paper didn't I :)

A sleek, small thin bodied mod that would take a 10440 protected battery. Would be made of sterling silver and solid gold accents. Would have an emerald button illuminated with an LED. Would have a custom mouth piece tip similar to the T-Tip, but made out of solid gold (or silver, depending on my mood). There would be a flat, twist lock switch on the bottom to shut off power. The atomizer would be a special design made of some sort of coil and wicking material that cannot burn or melt under any circumstances, and would never give off a bad taste when dry, it just wouldn't produce vapor. The whole piece would have a nice, solid heft to it.

Nice....actually there's stuff called art clay now that comes in silver and gold..it's powered metal suspended in a binding agent...so you can mold it like sculpy...and then you fire it in your oven or with a torch and it bakes off the binding agent as it melts the metal..so you get left with a solid sterling silver or gold piece... I was gonna play with that to make myself a silver dripping tip like a t tip..and a silver sleeve for a 510 battery..I was gonna use the gemstone for the "ash cap" ...but I like the button idea..

Whoa, that sounds pretty interesting. I wonder how difficult it is to work with..
it's like working with sculpy/fimo or playdoh...some jewelry people are using it to make beads (I've used it to do silver inlay on carved horn and stone)...
it's really model the stuff, or press it into a mold..and then torch (like a butate torch ( I think the starter kit even comes with one)) or bake it in the oven...
I just think that doing it right on the battery would kill the battery due to the heat to fire it..

you can find it (and all sorts of crystal and semi precious gemstone bling) on firemountaingems

But yeah I think I'm gonna cast a silicone mold of one of my T-tips and then just use the mold to put the stuff in and get myself a sterling silver t-tip..

Now that I have thought about it, if I had unlimited funds, the e-Cig wouldn't be my main focus. It would be the kickASS workshop that I would build, so that I COULD make the ultimate e-Cig!
true dat man... i'd love my own lathe, mill, drill press, CNC, press, extruder and casting machine. :D
