With that amount of hot glue I bet you could drop it down the stairs, it's like a block in there. Even if the bond breaks down there are 4 screw posts on one axis and the atty connector on the other, and I would think the block of glue is going to take a awhile to melt away.
As I said if it's the hot glue that's holding in the atty connector, and not a very tight press fit it won't be long at all till it starts to give. I wasn't talking about it 'melting away', I said 'break the bond', big difference. The amount of hot melt in the box makes no difference, only the rather small amount that's actually on the connector. And if does become loose and if battery problems occur, that point may well be the path of least resistance. I would assume that most folks would want the thing in their mouth to be as firmly fastened as possible.

Using hot melt, which cannot stand up to e-liquid either, and on something that gets hot is not the route I'd choose.

Your mileage may vary.

But, other than the atty breaking off or blowing out, how many Box mods could you drive a truck over?

Vent the .... end, and use a strong pressed in connector, maybe even some JB Weld and you have one solid mod.
How about a plastic snap in cap (I hesitate to call it a .... plug) that would blow out with the slightest pressure and maybe even reveal charging connections so you don't have to take the lid off.
This contact set up is stronger than a bare battery connector.

I'll vent the end of it when I get some time this weekend, until then, I'll refrain from using it.

The atty is pressed in rather tightly, and the solder that's attaching the ground wire kind of makes a seal around the aluminum body, so there's no way that things coming out.

And yes, it does need a log or something... for now though I'm just happy it works.

Thanks everyone for the input!

Willy, I'm not knocking you. Also not suggesting tossing it down the stairs. If the bond does break down that leaves the metal on metal press fit of the connector in alu, the solder and for that matter, all of the wiring serving as an anchor too. That makes for a lot of glue that has to fail before a problem arises, and I doubt the glue actually melts away.

People say the bartleby is built so well and doesn't break and honestly it looks like the only difference is it is filled with glue after being built so the wiring is entombed and they cant fiddle with it when changing a battery- and that's in a plastic box.
