There seems to be a lot of... brand loyalty going on around here, so I might as well just come out and say it. I just got my first (serious attempt at an) e-cigarette, and it's a Volcano Lavatube. Version 2 even.. with no variable wattage. Flame away. Anyway, hi! I'm Russ. It has been about 5 years since I smoked real cigarettes. Instead, I'm trying to quit chewing. In 2008, I switched from Winstons to snus, which I still think was a good decision. However, over the last few years, the Skruf and Ettan turned into Copenhagen and then Grizzly, and here I am, back to using something that wants to give me cancer. Yay. My experience with e-cigarettes so far has been one or two disposable Blu ones I bought when I was drunk, but kind of liked, and an njoy kit that was quite nice, except that the cartridges had barely any "smoke" in them (the 2-packs claim on the box is absolute crap.. it's more like 2 cigarettes). I don't remember how I found this board, but it is what caught my interest and got me reading (there's quite a bit to read about once you get past the disposable ones!). And, now I'm sitting here with a lavatube, puffing away at a seemingly endless vial of liquid.. pretty freakin cool! This thing takes e-cigarettes from a fun novelty to something that's actually usable. I'll be sure to try some different ones in the near future too.

Hi 1BRC. First welcome to the ECF. I may be the only person to not be on some type of bandwagon/conversion team. I own exactly zero mass production mods. I do have a vv device and it suits me just fine.

You have a well respected mod in your hands. You have a leg up on most folks who start with some really under powered simple unit(myself included). Good choice. Now all you have to do is try all the thirteen hundred variants of carto/atty/clearo and combinations....... Time to get to work.LoL... Enjoy your new unit. If you have any questions we will be around to try to help you in the direction you are looking to go. Good Luck. Happy Vaping.

My buddy is an Inferno. I am a no-frills kind of chick. I like to fill, charge, and puff.
My experience was different with the NJoy/Blus! The Blu cartridge flavors lasted me 10 minutes before they started tasting like water flavored steam! The NJoy menthol carts went strong for a couple of days, but tasted mediciney and burned the heck out of my throat!

I think you'll find a lot of people like what they like (me included), and while they might not recommend what you're using if you ask, most people around here aren't really die-hard evangelists for anything. I mean, there are a million ways to vape. Trying to push just one as the only way to do it would be pretty damned stubborn.

You like your Lavatube? Woot. You win.

Heh...people do tend to recommend a lot of things on here, but this is the new members forum. When we find something that works we want to spread the goodness. At a certain point, all the PVs will be pretty good and it's just a matter of what you happened to get started on first that becomes your go-to recommendation. Anyway, I have one of the older LTs and love it, but I'm also in a co-op for a Zmax and can't wait to get my grubby lil paws on it.

The Lavatube my friend is a great device. I personally do NOT like VV devices all that much - too much fiddling around. I have a Bombshell Stinger and a B.A.M 2.0 both with the Kick and MAN I LOVE THEM - Variable wattage seems to be my thing. I guess i just like to set-it and forget-it and let the Kick do all the Voltage adjusting for me.

Congrats on joining the cult! ;-) I too was mainly a dip/chew/snus guy more than a smoker (I only really smoked when I drank). My partner on the ambulance exposed me to vaping, and I haven't looked back once.

I started out with prodigy/legacy's. I just got my Hell Raiser LE iHybrid this week and I'm loving it. In total I own at least 12 vapes, and a tackle box of supplies. Everyone has their own favorite setups. Find what works for you and just stay off the tobacco.

Good luck man. :)

I hate you! You went from the cheapos directly to a very nice setup.

Although my setup is very nice, I just feel the need to upgrade, gadget freak that I am. So many shiny objects out there!

Welcome aboard!

Welcome to ECF and enjoy! any mod that helps you enjoy vaping and stay off smokes is a good one, have fun!!!!

and theres nothing wrong with brand loyalty -dont you have a fav soda, coffee, pizza, car, jeans, shoes? thats brand loyalty and nothing wrong with it here or anywhere else. people seem to think here with vaping we are somehow supposed to be impartial to our fav devices and companies. variety makes the world go round and they wouldnt be for sale if people didnt like buying them.

VAPE ON!!!!

Thanks everyone.. glad to be here!

Well, it's day two, haven't had a dip yet, and I'm still loving the vape! I'm impressed at how easy it is to use, and how consistent the "hit" is, considering how complicated the PVs are compared to the ones at the store. The only issue I can see with it is that the assembly seems kind of fragile -- it is not hard to picture that tank getting knocked off / broken, and the juice spilling everywhere! In the near future, I might have to try some smaller and more portable ones, for times when the LT is too much (like traveling, four wheeling, etc.).
